Reading about this and a little confused about what the best source would be and also how to trust the brand you’re buying so if anyone has any thoughts/comments I’d appreciate them.
 
My only comment is that I'd never heard of it. Why on earth do you need to take it ?
 
Hi Colin, I don't take it as a supplement and I never did so even when I thought Saturated Fat was bad for me (I know better now).
I know that some people use it in Coffee (instead of milk), but other just use Double cream or butter. I'm a tea drinker myself - just teabag and water.

I think I recall you're easting LCHF - if so, just stick to real foods as opposed to highly processed food or supplements, and you should be fine!
 
What is it I have never heard it mentioned before.

MCT (oil) = Medium Chain Triglycerides. Several constituents of which are found in Coconut Oil.
MCTs are promoted as a 'fat burning' supplement - I know of no evidence to support that.
 
Thank you, I had hard of people promoting coconut products but not as a fat burner.
 
The study you link to is an RCT using a High Carb Low Fat diet because the Oils only formed approx. 12% of daily calories.
They admit that they wanted to test MCTs against a saturated fat, but excluded those containing some Medium Chain fats e.g.Butter
and also excluded a more fully saturated fat (beef tallow because of its texture and taste).
So the test only showed that using MCT Oils as part of the SAD were no worse than using Olive Oil.
Hardly an endorsement especially since Olive Oil is cheaper and more readily available.
