Having got a bit fed up with lettuce and tomato in my salad I tried the following and it made a very nice change.

Fresh baby spinach leaves
Cucumber (chopped)
Spring onions (chopped)
Mango (chopped)

mixed all together in a salad bowl with a little Honey and Mustard salad dressing

I've had this several times now with Fish, Chicken and yesterday with a Pork loin steak.

John..

I like the sound of that. I'll try it this week.

John - does your bird (sorry, can't identify species from the tiny photo of you both) get the fruit off-cuts?

Copepod

My parrot is a White Fronted Amazon. She is my companion and talks to me daily, she has the freedom of the house only going into her cage at night for bedtime.
She eats as well as I do, plenty of greens and fresh fruit, and of course she like her seeds as well.
In the picture she is giving me my morning kiss, she places her beak on my lips and makes the sound of a kiss.
I will post a blog one day of when I had a bad hypo, she would not let me settle until I treated it.

John.

Hi John
Glad to hear she eats and lives well - sounds like you look atfer each other very well! I looked for some photos of White Fronted Amazon Parrots here: http://images.google.co.uk/images?h...esult_group&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CBUQsAQwAA
As a child, we kept a couple of aviaries, with budgies, cockatiels, parakeets, finches etc, but no parrots. These days, my partner and I have 3 ducks - but they stay in the garden, despite attempts to come inside.
