Unbelievable, what a selfish fool!

Mr McCloud, who finds it impossible to diet, said: "The reason why I want the operation is that it will help my diabetes and if I can stop being on insulin that will solve other problems.

"I have had diabetes for the best part of 15 years and I'm absolutely scared stiff of being a burden on my family in the future - but I still eat and that I can't get my head around.

Will a gastric bypass actually work in gettng him off insulin. Surely if he is at the stage where he needs to inject, the pancreas is no longer capable of producing insulin, therefore no matter what weight he is it will make no difference?

He might still be producing insulin, but not enough because of insulin resistance, so needs to 'top up'. There was something recently about it not just being the weight loss that comes with a GB op, but the release of certain gut hormones which helps restore the balance in blood sugars.

I started a thread yesterday on a similar (may be same) story. On the BBC Health web site was a report stating that someone had had the procedure and was no longer T2 diabetic.

Thread : Gastric by pass cures T2 diabetes:

Seeing what he is eating (extremely large amounts of carbs) I suspect he'll be in for a very different kind of operation on his lower limbs first, but at least he'll be comforted by the fact that his reduced height will increase his BMI above the necessary level...😱🙄

I just hope the hospital refuse him the op even if he gets to the BMI they want, I can't believe what an utter %?*&%* he is.😱

Is this the guy who sky news reported this morning to being told he could not have one on the nhs cause he was only 17 stone, who is now stuffing his face so he becomes heavy enough to have one on the NHS 😡

What an absolute idiot - he deservse to get no treatment at all now !!

He must be feeling pretty awful all the time - wonder what his levels are like? This might be seriously impairing his judgement. :(
