morning, I’ve had a few incidents of thrush, seems to just flair up every 3 months or so and then come and go over a couple of weeks. I can see no reason for it, bloods okay, average around 54/56 of the last year or so, there will be fluctuations in that I know and hygiene isn’t an issue. In all other respects all is good I just can’t seem to out run thrush, does anybody know anything I can do/ don’t do to help?

If it continues to reoccur than it may be worth seeing your GP. It might mean that you need to treat it for a little longer to shift it? Fluctuating BG levels and decreased immune systems can both act as triggers, so although it may not be clear which is causing it, the fact that it has returned a couple of times would imply it is worth getting it checked out. Best of luck 🙂

The treatment of external fungal infection is always tricky. I always told patients to use the treatment for a week after signs and symptoms have disappeared. It’s different for women with vaginal thrush, for reasons that are irrelevant here.

thanks all, it's not oral and quite mild bouts really, I'll go to the GP as it looks like I may need a bit of a course of Fluconazole to help rid.
Looking into it more it could be triggered by spikes in my BG although my Hb1ac is quite regular, turns out beer doesn't help either!!

Hey Gooner, I think this really needs discussion with your doc, it’s worth having a urine test to check for sugar as a cause. Otherwise I just wanted to say I really feel for you, prior to my diagnosis I had the worst case of thrush I have ever had in my life, I would have made a deal with the devil to become like Barbie...! 😳
Good luck in getting it sorted 🙂
