Good news. Well done.

Thanks for all your kind comments folks. Sharing success is good as it helps encourage others to keep on trying.
Now all I need to do is keep a close eye on my BG readings and hope they don't start to rise now I'm off medication. I know that when my gliclazide was reduced by 50% my BG rose at first but then started to fall to a good level.

Saw my GP this morning and she's stopped my gliclazide meds as my HbA1c has been steadily falling and I'm now into the pre-diabetic/non-diabetic range after being almost off the scale when diagnosed in December 2015. She reduced my gliclazide by 50% three months ago and I've still managed to push BG lower so she reckons I should try no meds for three months and if my self testing indicates a rise in BG she'll try other meds of which there are many.
I asked her if I'd still qualify for free test strips under the NHS as I thought they were not provided unless a T2 was taking a sulphonylurea type medication, and her reply, bless her cotton socks, was - "We'll decide on what's best for you."
She a well clued up young GP and I count myself very fortunate in being in partnership with her in managing my diabetes. She recognises that I'm "diet controlled" on a LCHF diet and that it works for me contrary to current NHS/NICE dogma and the "eat badly plate."

Fantastic news for you and an inspirational story for me. Congratulations

Amazing news! Well done!

Wonderful news Dave I'm so pleased for you ~ of course it was mainly your own determination and tenacity in managing your Diabetes and achieving a fantastic HbA1c that resulted in your Diabetes knowledgable GP withdrawing your medication. A great inspiration to others. Congratulations & well done Dave.

Keep going Adele. If I can do it, you can too and it looks like you are doing it!
Thanks. I'm sticking to the eating and exercise plan. I feel 10 years younger, so thanks for the encouragement and the inspiration!

Well done, kudos. 🙂
