So just opened my first eye screening letter and they've said I have signs of maculopathy which need further investigation in three months.

To say I'm terrified is an understatement.

I would be too @Mark C, that is awful news. It sounds as though it is very, very early stages if it's only signs, and good news that it can be left for 3 months, but you will be imagining the worst I dare say.

I'm not sure what the available treatments are for maculopathy, but I'm sure the whole forum will be rooting for a good outcome for you.

Hello @Mark C some info I have found which may help.

Ah sorry to read this @Mark C :(

Hopefully they have caught it early, and can successfully treat and changes that may have happened.

This page has more info from the NHS too (maculopathy is about halfway down)

One of the most significant things you can do to support your eye health is to gradually move towards better BG levels, and then try to maintain them.

How is your diabetes management going? Have you been able to have any general diabetes checkups since the lockdown? Do you have the information you need?

Sorry, just seen this.

I've only been diagnosed since August so I'm nearly due my first check up, they said they'd be in touch by the end of Oct or early Nov.

My blood glucose levels are usually in the 6s or 7s, rarely higher than that, except maybe on the occasions when I've tried something new and it hasn't worked out. Quite happy with where they are at given in August they were between 10 and 16!

Gotten over the shock of my eye troubles, I have no problems with vision so I'm assuming I must be fairly early on in it's progression but I'll just keep going with the new lifestyle and wait to see if treatment is necessary.
