Hi ...new to forum. My son who is 22 years old has Down Syndrome and has type 1 Diabetes

Hi and welcome from me too.
Has your son just been diagnosed with Diabetes? If so, you must be feeling pretty overwhelmed at the moment. Hang in there, it does get better and in a few months it will become a part of your normal routine. It is a bit like learning to drive.... in the beginning there are so many things to focus on like steering and changing gear and indicating and looking in the mirror but soon you do many of those things without even thinking about them.
Hope you have a good diabetes team to support you particularly through these early stages.
Which insulins has your son been prescribed? How are you finding them?
Please feel free to ask any questions that come to mind. We have many experienced members who have come across most problems and can offer advice or possible solutions.

Welcome to the forum @LSJM

We have quite a few friendly and experienced parents on the forum for you to compare notes with.

Hope your son is adjusting OK to the diagnosis.
