Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Evening all new today, though I've actually been type 2 for I'd say 8 years, though up until now I've not really "worried" too much about it. Now, I'm feeling extremely low, I've lost a little weight, but bizarrely feel worse for it. I'm quite a fuzzy eater, I'd be very grateful for any advice.

Sorry to hear that you’ve been feeling low lately :(

Was your weight loss intentional?

Do you know what your most recent HbA1c was? This can give you a good indication of how your diabetes is responding to your menu and any exercise/activity you try to include in your daily routine.

With diabetes of any type it is the total carbohydrate content of meals which needs to be balanced with the body’s ability to absorb it, and any required medication.

In terms of having a bit of a ‘reset’ many new T2 members find it can be really helpful to keep a food diary for a week or two. Be brutally honest! Note down everything you eat and drink. And work out a reasonable estimate the amount of total carbohydrate in the meals and snacks - it doesnt have to be gram-perfect... the nearest 5-10g is fine.

This will give you an idea of which foods are the main sources of carbs in your menu, and may suggest some candidates for tweaks if you need to reduce your BG levels a little.

If you would like a good overview of T2 diabetes, to add to the knowledge you’ve already picked up, members here frequently recommend Maggie Davey’s Letter and Gretchen Becker’s book T2 Diabetes, the first year, which you can work through gradually and will give you a solid starting point.

Good luck, and let us know how things are going

Hi there,

Thanks for your reply, really helpful. I've my HbA1c test on Tuesday, with a catch up later next week, so I'll have more an understanding where I am.
Weight loss was due to Covid, though this time last year I'm 2st lighter which is great. When I was diagnosed, I didn't wanna accept it, still don't in some way, so never really told the dos/don't..Getting there now though.
I'll take a look at those links. Thanks again.

I had my HbA1c results yesterday, they were 67, I was informed that they were higher a few months back, so they're happier that they have dropped. Still feel c**p, sometimes the worst I feel is after breakfast.. Getting there.

Yay on your numbers coming down - sorry tho hear that you are still not feeling great. What are you eating for breakfast?
