Phew!

I registered yesterday and wonders of wonders I tried to get a home delivery from Morisons and given a slot next week for first time ever. I've never ever managed to get a home delivery before.

I got on the special list the other way round. I actually spoke to Tesco customer service, explained my situation, and got on their list. Delivery tomorrow. I still can’t get on the government list, because of the way it is set up. Reminds me of the PIP application form. Wonder why?

I think my friend is on this. She phoned an NHS / Gov number and now she phones Morrisons daily and they bring her stuff. 🙂

Hi Mike, I contacted my GP practice and asked how vulnerable I was and should I be on the list. The response was very vulnerable and yes I should be on the list.

So GP has written the letter, which I received today. So go down that route if you need want a letter.

I was extremely impressed yesterday as had a phone call from one of the paramedics attached to the surgery doing a welfare check and asking if I needed anything. So 10/10 for that as well.

It’s your Addison’s that’s got you on the list, Sue. You’ve been missed by error. I’m not on the list by design, not error.

Ah ok thanks for clearing that up.

Feel the same. I contacted my GP practice and it was a no! I think it very much depends on the GP as I know someone who spoke to his GP and is now on the list but does not appear to qualify!

The N.H.S. centrally drew up the criteria, but it is up to individual G.P.s to make the actual decisions on which patients meet them based on their own judgement.

Because of conflicting information on whether I qualify I immediately contacted my G.P. who confirmed I was a definite high risk. But they never actually put me on the list and ignored repeated requests to do so, in the end I had to ask my M.P. for help.

As I live alone and have no one to help me with shopping, I needed to be on the list for that. Only once in the last month had I managed to get a supermarket delivery slot. Tomorrow I will get only my second shopping since the lockdown began.

Wow you are lucky to even get that. My first will be next week after many attempts.

Have you been contacted by the government help line yet? If you have registered for help on the web site then, after they have been informed by your G.P. you are at risk, they should contact you to see what help you need. Part of which is a free weekly food delivery.

I am still waiting for someone locally (the council, I assume) to contact me to arrange that. But then I got an email from Asda saying I have been put on their priority scheme, so I immediately went on their site and book the first available slot. They are the only one so far, even though they are much farther away the the big Tesco and Sainsbury's.

My other shopping was from being lucky with Morrisons, after literally spending all day just reloading all the supermarket delivery pages. It came up sometime around 3pm or 4pm, so maybe that is when they release their unused priority slots?

I wouldn't accept free food on principle as I budget to pay for my food and in real terms the food is not free someone somewhere is paying for it. Being Coeliac also causes a few problems so I shop for myself as a lot safer. 🙂 I registered on the gov site only for the reason of having home deliveries.

If I only had diabetes I would be more than happy to go into town and shop for myself and the neighbours who need/want something. As social distancing is all that is needed.

I would rather not have to take them either, and signed up for the same reason. But the experience of trying to access help, and only having had fresh food for one of the past four weeks, means I cannot take the risk of going without. Even with priority access there is no guarantee of getting delivery slots.

And I am certain the cost to the government and tax payers of feeding those of us shielding who live alone will be far less than the cost of treating just a few of us in hospital if we get sick. Whether from the virus or diet related complications. Also, they do account for specific dietary needs in what they supply.

I am on the list because I take a particular immunosuppressant for arthritis. But as comorbidities I have uncontrolled diabetes (as my other thread) and apparently a lung disease. I thought that was cleared but apparently it is a chronic condition and only went into remission. Like the diabetes, it was diagnosed by accident without any symptoms, so worryingly I have no way of knowing if or when it has flared up again.

My body is not suitable for living in at the best of times, so keeping six feet away still sounds too close to me.
