i seem to have a problem with days where I don't have to have a biscuit before bed the night before x

I will wake under 5.0, then be high 6's low 7's by pre lunch, it only ever happens when I've not had to have a biscuit x

I personally would see that as part of my normal life managing diabetes but hear for you that is a problem. Can you try to always have a biscuit before bed? It would give you more calories too. I am sure others more knowledgable will have more suggestions. X

I'm not going to have a biscuit if I'm like sitting at 7.0 like I was last night and encourage waking high though x

Its anything above 6 I don't have anything for and the same thing always happens the next day x

I'm a teaspoon of peanut butter before bed person. Or a lump of cheese. By the time it finds its way into my system, it's that part of the night towards 3am when my BG is likely to be dropping.

Do you do it every night or only at a certain level, I'm worried this would cause a high in the morning too x

Above 7.5, or maybe 8, I don't. Anything from 6-7.5 I have cheese or PB. Anything below 6, Id have a cracker or flatbread thin with the cheese or PB, as I probably need some carb up front as well as in the middle of the night.
Since I got the Libre, I can see that my overnight trace looks like a loopy washing line, with the lowest point around 3am. Even if I've been steady all evening, just the fact of getting into bed seems to switch my liver off, and I start dropping. That's me, though, everyone has to experiment to find out what works for them. I certainly don't think it would do any harm to try a protein snack, if it works it works, and if it doesn't, you'll know it's not the answer!
(Though having said that, I've put scraps of information into the 'didn't work' pile in my brain, only to revive them at a later date and realise they do work!)

How much cheese would you have? x

I was about to put, about an ounce, or a cubic inch, but then I realised you are a product of the metric age. About 25g!

😳 lol, great as I only have slices in that are meant to weigh 25g! haha x

Have you tried doing a test at about 02:00 on the nights you don't have a biscuit?

No I haven't to be honest at the moment I lack the energy to get up at that time to test, its that bad by this time I lack the energy to walk through the house :( x

I take my meter to bed with me, as I sometimes wake up hypo and also for basal testing. I'm doing a 3am basal test tomorrow night.

I know basal testing in the wee hours is a pain in the rear, but it's good to do them now and again, particularly when you haven't been diagnosed long. I pick a night when I'm not working and have a day where I'm not up to much 🙂

Maybe if you take @Robin's excellent suggestions and eat something now, you would feel better and have more energy to do a test at 3am?
