Lockdown ! Moaning ?

This virus has certainly brought out what people are/or not.. unfortunately there are thousands of people in several countries
around the world that are STARVING ! living in mud huts, in shanty towns with no running water, no toilets or beds to sleep on
living in close proximity of each other, and most of the time no help or protection.
Families living outside because a family member has died, the body is decaying in the house and no one comes to collect it !

It makes me sick to the stomach hearing people moaning because they cant go out.. god... we have everything !!
a comfortable house, nice soft bed, a flick of a switch we have heating, TV games, internet.. a turn of a tap hot & cold fresh
water, plenty of food ect..ect.. and so it goes on.. its all took for granted, we want this, we want that, at the flick of a finger !

A family near me has a lad of 20, and all he does is play games on his computer 24/7, I hear him shouting screaming at it
he's playing against his mate in another town, his mom told me, I cant get him off it, that's all he does ?
But now.. since the lockdown ho wants to go out now.. he's moaning being shut in ??


What I say "STOP MOANING" !! Think yourselves lucky, your alive, im alive, think of the poor souls that's lost there life, and
the tragic deaths of the doctors & nurses that helped others though this devastation. God bless them..

We must help them by staying in, its only for a while, we cant let the side down now..

Green eyed monster certainly out. A lot of celebrities taking the flak regarding their second homes. They've bought them so if they want to isolate in them thats up to them. Who has got the right to tell someone your not welcome in a home you've paid for. Most of the moaners either rent or have mortages. These lucky individuals have bought their homes so in reality have more right to stay in their homes than those who don't own a home until mortage is paid.
 
I am lucky, I know, I can work remotely and still have a job. I am at home alone with a fast network connection, have a couple of nearby supermarket an I don't like to cook I could have some roasted chicken or sausages delivered home.

A lot of people, like bartenders, tourist guides, and most of the shopkeepers haven't any work to do and the expenses are still running, and the bank account is draining. Add to this that the policies are confusing and the rules are unclean and people are starting to be upset. Like the flower shops, they were closed then they were permitted to open but they were today forced to close again, so all the plants and flowers they bought will go rotting.
Some politicians that are seeking visibility enact some other random edict and coppers sometimes are fining people randomly. The politicians are trying to hide the fact they weren't capable to plan ahead and are making excuses on why very few people were tested, some football player were tested, but doctors and nurses were, that no masks were given to doctors and GP, and that ICU and hospitals were closed for saving money. They gave orders to send Covid infected people in nursing home cares, trasforming them in deadly traps, and trying to hide the mess they done.

And I should stop moaning? I'll stop moaning when they will be closed in jail, actual jail, not house arrest for multiple manslaughter.
 
Oh yeah, let's have a post mortem indeed, and lessons will be learned ……… well absolutely, they usually are for a while. Another 4 generations later when there's another pandemic this one will be long forgotten, I mean I was born in 1950 and 100% never heard any real details of the 2nd World War, let alone Spanish Flu - whyever would I need to know anything about that???? the world will be equally unable to cope.
 
Just because we’re more privileged than others in the world doesn’t mean we can’t moan about our situation. Sometimes it’s actually good for you just to let it all out set it free and move on rather than bottling it up with the potential of affecting your mental health which is as important as you your physical wellbeing.

There are a number of countries which have (so far) dealt with this very effectively. So I doubt that it would have been miraculous if the UK had managed to do a decent job.

You'd hope that the post mortem would focus on "Why weren't we like Austria/Norway/NZ/Australia/Taiwan/South Korea/Germany/etc" rather than "At least we weren't as bad as the US (or wherever)".

Austria is actually the one which impresses me the most so far. No advantages of climate/density/borders/etc, which you can argue for in other places, and yet it seems like they've squashed it.

Ive not heard much about Austria’s approach. Perhaps it helped that Germany was pretty effective too?
 
We have not heard much about what is happening elsewhere other than the "graph" designed I suspect to suggest that we are not much different to anybody else. Just looked at the Austria data (thanks for the pointer Eddy) and it suggests they nailed it by early shutdowns and and idetifying outbreaks and dealing with them with testing and isolation.

Like everywhere else which seems to be doing ok I think.
 
I note that Oz is reporting a total of 6 new cases today. We've throttled it by action at the border & testing, contact tracing & isolation. There's no reason apparent to me why the UK couldn't have done this too.

It seems to be a familiar pattern with places in the lower half of the graphs
 
Because the rest of the world now relies more than Oz on imports from/exports to and business with the rest of the world ?
