Is anyone using this? It's a home delivery prescription service from Lloyds Pharmacy. I've just signed up, so hoping it all goes smoothly 🙂 I get my stuff from the local LLoyds anyway, and this will save me from having to venture out 🙂 I've always had a certain degree of anxiety when going to anywhere 'medical' - surgery, hospital, pharmacy - basically because although I am generally fit and healthy and my conditions well-controlled these places are usually places where poorly people go, and I don't want to pick up any nasties! 😱 I've only been really ill once since my diagnosis, but I was so desperately ill then (I couldn't eat OR drink anything for 3 weeks without being sick, had to keep injecting to keep levels down, but afraid of hypos if I injected too much as I wouldn't be able to treat them 😱 ) that I absolutely do not want to repeat the experience :( I have no idea how my body might cope with Covid 19 - do any of us? - and I really don't want to find out.

Stay safe everyone 🙂

We use a local pharmacy delivery service, have done for many years . It works well and the drivernow wears gloves, mask and stands well back when I open the door to pick up our meds off the ground.

Our local Lloyd’s has a delivery service. They haven’t increased the numbers of deliveries at all. But there is a local service provided by Clitheroe council for folk in the village who can’t queue up outside the pharmacy, so I’ve got no real problem getting prescriptions. It’s just one more number to ring.

I use a smaller chemist that only exist in Scotland I believe but my mum and Bruce are still collecting prescriptions, although I did have something delivered once although I hadn't requested it be delivered and the receptionist told me she'd have it sent to the health centre ready for my appointment lol xx

Let us know how it goes, and whether they actually deliver.
I'm with a local (NHS?) pharmacy, that's in a health centre local to me (multiple GP practices, several other services etc). Though they advertise free delivery, including on a great big sign on the outside of the building, they've refused to delivery. Last time I tried was 5 weeks ago.

I use Boots and they have limited the number of prescription repeats they are accepting each day ‍♀️

Hi Northerner,

Yes, I’ve started using the Lloyds Echo service and have had 2 successful deliveries - both went well. They updated me after ordering and on dispatch, with delivery via 24 hour tracked Royal Mail (no signature being required in the current circumstances). The first order included insulin pens and some chiller blocks were provided as part of the packaging which kept everything nice and cool. So far, so good.

Phil

Good to hear Phil 🙂

If you can't get out yourself then it might be worth trying one of the volunteer organisations who will pick up and deliver for you. I did think about this, but decided to try the Lloyds service first.

I did that for my last batch (full set), and recieved it last Tuesday or Wednesday.

Well, surprisingly I have received an email from Echo this morning to say that half of my prescription has been posted to me. I'm surprised because the site says that they are waiting on a prescription for the other 4 of the 8 items I ordered - I don't understand why the surgery wouldn't issue a prescription for all my item at the same time, or have they dispatched the 4 items without waiting? Also, there's no detail in the email or on the site as to whether they are sending the quantities specified by my GP e.g. it says they are sending 'Freestyle sensor', but I get 4 at a time usually - will I get 4 or just 1? Time will tell! 😱

Don't forget Northerner that Echo are not in the business to make you happy, they are in the business to make money from the NHS. No doubt they will make a lot of noise about how they send e-mails and have a website which you can look at but say nothing about whether the information is any use to the individual. The service is impersonal and is OK when all goes smoothly (simple prescriptions for readily available and cheap medication) but shows its true colours when things get a bit complicated.

Just picked up my prescription from Richard in our village pharmacy on my morning walk. Everything there (always is) and picked off the shelf without me saying who I am (always is). They do have a delivery service but I will leave that for people who cannot collect themselves.

As I have said, I used to be a retailer and would always recommend a local independent before a big chain for anything. I was an independent and gained many good customers after clearing up debris left by the big retailers in my sector.

There's no difference in who gets the NHS money in my case @Docb, as I get my stuff from Lloyds anyway 🙄

You're in a very cynical frame of mind at the moment! 😉 :D

I’ve been using The Causeway’s Community Navigator who organises all the local volunteers in my hometown, & across the The Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council: just realising that THAT’S the Amalgamation of all the biggest towns & the old town councils, including my hometown’s, that no longer exist; knew the term but, didn’t know what it meant till now!

My local pharmacy, in the 1st week of Lockdown just couldn’t cope with the sudden increase in deliveries, & my GP practice posted the number on their FB page. I had 2 prescriptions picked up & left at my front door by a very kind local volunteer that used to be a regular Take Out customer of our family restaurant.

The sudden extra demand on my local chemist has gone down a bit now & I DID manage to get them to deliver my last lot of insulin. But, I can call on those volunteers again if I need to. They can pick up shopping & walk dogs for you too. The local community Angels at this time!

Well, all my items have now arrived 🙂 They came in three separate deliveries and nothing that would fit through the letter box, so I had to be alert to the postman/woman's knock! The insulin was elaborately packed, first in some bubble wrap with two ice bags and all wrapped in a wool insulator to keep it cool and slow the thawing of the ice, which was still partially frozen. Won't need any more for another two months 🙂

Great news Northie!
