What sort of issues are you having?

Not sure yet , my doctor is ringing me on Friday with the results of a blood test. They found something a few weeks ago (what I have no idea) and decided to do more blood tests in the hope that it has cleared. I just wondered if others had any problems with their liver. I have altered my diet, drastically, and have lost 8lbs. I know this sounds not a lot in 6 weeks but, I have an underactive thyroid and loosing weight is really difficult for me. So any weight loss is nothing short of a miracle.

Fatty Liver more so if overweight but Dr will tell you and you might need a scan.

Mine was having problems but with the D diagnosis, it got parked. Currently waiting on test results too. Hope yours is resolved, reversible or temporary.

My liver function gets have been erratic for years and nobody knows why. Have recently been told I have fatty liver disease so this might be the reason. good luck and hope its not serious

My Doctor rang Friday afternoon and said everything fine except one enzyme in my liver. The figures for this enzyme should be 53 and mine is 70 (no idea what this means) but she did say that if it had been in the thousands than she would have been very worried. As it is l am to have more blood tests in 4 weeks time. I am beginning to feel like a pin cushion.

I’m not familiar with the specifics of the test, but if yours is 70 vs target of 53, and it’s possible for the result to be in the thousands then it sounds like it’s more of a “something to keep an eye on” than a “something to worry about” situation. Hopefully your test in 4 weeks shows an improvement.

EllsBelis I sincerely hope that your tests turn out to be OK (or as near as possible) and that something can be done about it. It is a very worrying time. Waiting for results and the not knowing. I imagined all sorts of things, all bad.

I had a liver scan, based on my blood tests. I did tell the doctor it was lock down liver, aka gin.
But after not drinking for 6 weeks before, and a serious low calorie weight loss, it's all good.

All clear apparently.

Hope your next results give you some clarity and encouraging news @maryanne, and that you are able to discuss the test, and what the results mean for you.

I have a fatty liver - non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFALD). I found this out after lots of tests including an ultrasound scan after suffering from abdominal pains. The fatty liver is not related to the pains, and I have no obvious symptoms from it. But it is related to my type 2 diabetes (not sure which is the cause and which is the effect) and being obese (BMI 32).
In my liver blood tests, it shows up in my ALT (alanine aminotransferase) which came back initially as 51 (should be less than 35 for a woman).
I have been losing weight, which has helped reduce my blood sugar levels, and more recent tests show that my ALT levels have been coming down - my most recent blood test it was down to 45.
I have my next diabetes review mid July, so I hope to be able to ask my GP more about it then.
