Do you have the Veo Laura? If so, in the "bolus" menu, select "bolus setup", then "max bolus" - you can set your max bolus up to 75 units I think. But it's a safety feature to set it at your personal highest. My son's max bolus is set at 8U.

I've got the accu Chek spirit combo.
I've looked at all my info so will ask my nurse when she rings today

It woke me up at 3.15 this morning with an error, my god it's loud!!!!

I love my spirit combo Laura, it's the best thing that happened to me. I hope that you enjoy your pump just as much as I do 🙂

I have a Combo too. You can't change the max bolus amount from the on-board menus. You have to do it using the 360 software which you can get from Roche. As said above it's a safety feature.

You can change the volume of the alarms from the on-board menus, but for a deaf old got like me I have it set on the max amount and still rely on the vibe to warn me. Not popular in the cinema!

Thanks for that info, thought it was me missing something!

I can sleep like the dead so ill keep it at the volume it is but it's amazing that it knew I had an occlusion & told me.
Tho at 3.15 in the morning I wasn't sure if I should re prime my line or put a new one in (I only have 1 until my order comes) so just re primed & my bloods seem fine now.

Glad you've now got your pump Laura, hope it all goes really well for you. 🙂

Well I'm live on my pump 😱

inserting the cannula wasn't as bad as I'd feared. (My tummy is sore tho so maybe best inserting it stood up next??)

I was thinking jerry, seeing as my diabetes is called tom

That's great you've started Laura!

I think the Tom n Jerry thing is brilliant BTW 🙂

I'm doing a saline start next week before going live on the 23rd and I'm gettign a little anxious about how the canula will feel going in the first time. Trying to convince myself it wont feel like a harpoon at close range

I'm sure you'll be fine Deeko - mostly I hardly feel them at all (just a bit more than an MDI jab), sometimes it's a bit like a jab that nicks a capillary. You'll probably be 'hyper-aware' of the sets for a good few days, but there should be no real pain or discomfort if give it a bit of a poke/pressure. If they are very painful for a long time ask your pump clinic about alternative lengths of cannula/set types that suit your pump. Makes a *big* difference when you get the right type of set for you.

It wasn't like harpooning a whale or anything (I'd got myself a bit worked up for it & it was fine)
I'm still really aware of my cannula & knocking it.

Which pump you getting? I was shocked that I was let loose on insulin straight away as I was expecting a saline trial

Bit like my dad, who when he was about 12 was asked by his older cousin (my Uncle Ray) 'Can you swim, our Alf?' Dad answered, 'No.'

So Ray pushed him in the canal (it was clean then, don't worry LOL) with the comment 'It's about time you learned, then!'

In at the deep end Laura, has a tendency to work quite well, my Dad found !

PS The 360 software is free to pumpers, just ring the order line.

Thank you TW & I agree about the deep end.

My nurse has said she'll change by maximum bolus on Friday but wants me to basal test tomorrow night

Congratulations. Love the name, hope Jerry the pump doesn't set quite as many tricks and traps as his namesake 😱
