I love it, but can I have it i& typ2? I miss having it so much just wondered what your thoughts are?
If you chew on a liquorice root then there are very few carbs but if you are talking about pontefract cakes, liquorice allsorts or even the hard liquorice then they are pretty high carb nearly 70g carbs per 100g, not that you would eat 100g all at once.I love it, but can I have it i& typ2? I remember as a kid you got sherbet or something called cayli which was a fizzy crystal with either a soft liquorice stick or a very hard strong flavoured stick which was called spanish. Our town has an old fashioned sweet shop, with all the jars etc. They stock quite an extensive range of sugar-free variants of their sweets, including Pontefract cakes.
I don't have a sweet tooth, but do like a liquorice flavour. Checking the shop's stock book, which had the "nutritional" information for every item they sell, some sugar-free variants weren't too carb heavy, but it varied enormously, but of course, the downside of many sugar-free sweets are the potential side effects from the sweeteners.
In.the olden days !!! We made a drink with Spanish left in water to dissolve ( in a bottle that had to be shaken vigorously ) It was called spo . No I don't know why !I remember as a kid you got sherbet or something called cayli which was a fizzy crystal with either a soft liquorice stick or a very hard strong flavoured stick which was called spanish.
I’m going to look out that sounds nice. I miss my blood orange onesI drink mint and liquorice tea - not everyone likes it but I find it very comforting on a chilly afternoon.
oooh didn’t know that, thanksYou’re unlikely to eat enough for it to be a problem but just a general heads up that black liquorice can raise blood pressure to dangerous levels so it’s something to keep an eye on if you eat it regularly.
We miss the wild blackberry and nettle and the mandarin, lychee and jasmine which Twinings saw fit to discontinue. Never found ones we like as much.I’m going to look out that sounds nice. I miss my blood orange ones
I find if I really like something it gets discontinued. SadlyWe miss the wild blackberry and nettle and the mandarin, lychee and jasmine which Twinings saw fit to discontinue. Never found ones we like as much.
