Does that mean everyone will have to have something else in the mean time?

Thanks, Mike.

Caroline - it doesn't say anything about not using these devices, just that replacements will not be available until 2012.

I've read accounts from a few people (both here and in the US) whose Memoir pens have developed erratic behaviours. Specifically that the screen goes blank and the pen needs to be reset, especially if the pen gets cold. This was said to be a bad batch of batteries at one stage, but clearly they are having a bit of a rethink.

Even with the blank screen I gather you can 'count the clicks' to dial up and deliver a dose, though clearly this is less than ideal and the advice now if your pen is on the fritz seems to be to get hold of an alternative.

Mine has always been fine - but now I'm just waiting for it to go wrong 🙄

I've got one of these - invaluable for a bad memory:D

Its my second one, might request another on next prescription if there's any left. No problems with either pen, only got another as the first didn't survive being in washing machine😱

Blimey - that's forgetful, a pen ending up in washing machine, presumably in an unchecked pocket? 🙂

At least my sweets in sealed ziplock bags have survived...

I had a lot of problems with mine and stopped using it. I was so disappointed I thought it was going to be the answer to a lot of problems with not remembering whether I had taken my insulin.

I dream of having a faulty memoir pen 🙄 :D

I forgot whether I'd done my lantus a while ago. And frequently forget how much humalog I've given. Luckily, my semi-conscious mind tends to go for the correct dose before it forgets.🙂

Can't get anything gadgety here. I tried blagging an xpert meter but was told a big NO and am awaiting my free nano as a consolation. One of the drawbacks of being with a surgery clinic rather than a proper clinic.

I'll have to ask again if/when a new version of the memoir comes out.

Rob

I'm amazed, surgeries can blag almost anything out of reps it seems to me, a diabetic I know is a Coding clerk at a surgery and she's currently waiting for one of the new Insulinx meters from Glucomen off their rep!

I can't even claim an unchecked pocket - put insulin pen (and mobile😱) on top of washing, carried downstairs and threw the lot into the machine, ten minutes into wash, I wondered what the loud clanking noise coming from the machine was. Doh!

Why dont you all try writing your dose down............😉.............easier said than done sometimes I suppose................I actually have a fancy meter that records my dose and correction, yet I still write it down on paper and record it online..............😱

Asked for a new memoir on my repeat last week - can't get one :( The pharmacist tried re-ordering,then she phoned Lilly, who confirmed they are withdrawn, and won't be available till the first quarter of next year, at the earliest.

Had to make do with a chanpagne coloured Luxura instead 😉
