Hey Team,

Hope everyone is OK. I have noticed that I get a bit light headed. This happened a couple of weeks ago. Then I noticed as I had and still have a cold. It happens. Thinking about going to Docs,

I got an activity tracker from Our path on another note.

Hope you feel better soon rustee, could be because your not well, have you checked your blood glucose?

Nah, I don't have a machine. Doc said I shouldn't get one as I am not at that level. I have lost weight via the gym. But I will book an appointment tomorrow. I do cope with Blood pressure too. But I thought the Beetroot Apple and Celery juice I have first thing takes care of that along with my Amlodipine. I developed a fear of my BP monitor. I took a reading this morning. It was high.
Could be a bit of stress too.

CathyB is right, first port of call is Blood Sugars, hope you feel better soon.

Rustee the doc won’t tell you that you need a meter as the NICE guidance only approves them for those on insulin, but if you don’t check your blood, you can’t see what foods work for you or not? I certainly wouldn’t drink the juice for example as I know it would push my blood sugars up, but we are all different.
Good luck at the docs, hope they sort you out 🙂

Hi, If it is when you stand it could be BP, it isnt easy to do but with 30 tries I managed to take my BP as I stood because that was when I got lightheaded and my BP was dropping to something like 60/25 from memory, went to docs to ask for BP meds to be reduced and due to my white coat syndrome the doc wanted to put the meds up lol

Get a meter

Best of luck

Thanks,
I will get a meter. I purposely put my BP monitor by my bed. I did a lot of walking today. But first thing the Docs

Hi Team, got an appointment this morning. Dr took my Blood Pressure it was 167. I told her I did it at home yesterday, and it was 172/103.
I explained as I got the monitor at home I get anxious reading it.
Will go for a fasting Blood Glucose next week.
She advised me that as my HbA1c was pre diabetic range the last time, It is well controlled. However if I want to get a monitor to read every day I could but she advised that is usually for People on insulin or Glicizade that cause hypos.

But Dr advised me it COULD be I get hypos which is what the Fasting Reading will be able to determine.

I must admit as I have not experienced a Hyppo, my imagination does tend to run away with me sometimes. But I have to learn to like the BP monitor I have at home. It is not my enemy but my friend

Hypertension, Hypertension
Why are you troubling me,
I am trying to lose weight and be healthier you see
I go to the Gym on a regular basis,
I have started walking more and more
Most of my jobs involve standing up and being outdoors.
I get so happy when I think I have improved
Then you show up unexpected, which is rather rude.
I would like to know why do you dislike me,
Why are you troubling me.

Hypertension responds
Hi, I don't dislike you, I am there to advise and warn you
You have been going to the gym I see that,
But as for your diet, forget that,
How many times have I seen Processed Meats,
Crisps, biscuits cakes, and other stuff
Find it's way to your mouth
Many times you chose fizzy drinks over water
Yes you don't drink or smoke, that is true,
However, you require a bit more to do.
You say diabetes is your older brother,
Well you can just treat me as another
I am your friend, to comfort and reassure,
So come on my little brother, trust me more and more.

Let me guide you, to the right choice
Listen to my inner voice,
If in doubt call on me,
I will advise and guide you sensibly.
In time you will learn to trust
However, ditch a lot of those foods you must

Thanks,

As others have said GPS are unlikely to recommend test kits if not on insulin, but it is the only way that you can find out what different foods do to your BG. With It testing it is a bit like driving somewhere with a blindfold on.

Those where have to self fund seem to prefer SDCodefree as that one has the cheapest test strips. I think I read on here that you can only get these from an online purchase.

You might find this article useful to look atAbout self testing

Also, because if you have to self-fund you want to make those test strips count:
Testing on a budget

Hope this helps

Thanks,
Dr advised that I could be testing up to 7 times a day, but first have the fasting test done and then decide

Hi, I drink it as I make it myself a small glass via my Nutribullet. The shop ones are too sweet and have other stuff in them

Hi,
The reason I drink it as I have read it is good for lowering blood pressure and diabetes.

Being lightheaded was how my diabetes was discovered. Btw you might be better off eating pickled beetroot and a couple of stalks of celery, better for your gut flora and your BG levels.

I tried pickled beetroot - hated it. I prefer it raw and juiced. I found that when I have it in the morning - It cleanses my insides and leaves me with more energy. I mix it with Celery and Cucumber, might add garlic to it too. I certainly do not drink the whole nutri bullet in 1 go. A small glass first thing is suffice. Then store it in the fridge

I can see the positives of having a meter. It would be a bit daunting at first. However, with you guys on the forum here to give advice and support. It would help a lot. It's practical
