Hi

As a type one on a three yearly licence I am restricted to drive up to 3500kg in weight, does that mean I can drive a 3500kg vehicle? DVLA website is not clear and Diabetes Uk have not got back to me. Thing is somewhere else it states 3500 and above as next category. I feel unclear and am looking at buying a 3500kg vehicle if poss I don't want to have to do another test if I can help it as it is a lot of expense etc.

I think it depends when you passed your test. I can drive a 7 ton truck because when i passed ? (ages) trophywench is up on all that stuff

Have a look at some other posts in Driving / DVLA section. I'm pretty sure it's been mentioned, in relation to medical examinations, meter records etc. How did you contact Diabetes UK helpline? If they haven't got back to you by the time they said they would, it's probably worth phoning them when they're open, rather than eaving a message or emailing.

Look at your licence, if it has a category B then you can drive a motor vehicle of up to 3,500KG, no more than 8 passenger seats with ot without a trailer - weighing no more than 750kg.

So what they are saying is the total weight loaded or unloaded can not weigh more than 3,500kg For your B licence.

Aye I can drive up to 3500 it says but does that include 350o?

Yes you can but you can not drive 3501.
The 3500 is fully laden so do be careful.

Brilliant that is what i wanted to know, we travel light so it wont be a problem, have learnt to question the detail and how things are interpreted to be on the safe side, off shopping for a newer motorhome tomorrow thank you all for your replies, ps i was most upset as i used to be able to drive 7.5 up until i got type one pah
