Hi all. I need some help. I have to send my sensor back to Abbott. They've sent me a replacement and all the things to return it. Where is the battery? How do i get the battery out? Do i need to take off the filament which is inserted? Help!

Send it back without removing anything as Abbott maywish to test it
The battery will not cause any problems as they are already in situ when they are sent out to us .

Yes just put it straight in the bag and return it as it is. It's a prepaid envelope and should be small enough just to drop into a post box so you don’t have to tell anyone what is in it.

Ok. Thank you. I asked because the sheet they sent with it says to remove the battery, put in bio bag x2,put in envelope and post.

That's changed then! Admittedly it's at least a couple of years since I’ve had to send one back, but I received no such instructions and just sent it back as it was. If you pull all the sticky off the back it's clear plastic and you can see the little button battery inside, i have no idea how you'd get it out though without wrecking the whole thing, which surely defeats the object of sending it back!

I had the same as I had a replacement sent to me with 2 bags, an envelope and a prepaid label.

If I’m been honest though, I followed what the man said on the phone and put the whole sensor into a bag, then that bag into the 2nd bag and then that into the envelope and put the prepaid label onto the envelope and put it into the postbox.

That’s what arrived with it.

Thats the same as i've had. I'll just do what you did then. Thank you.

Doesn’t it say remove any “removable” batteries?
it doesn’t have any you can remove, so you can’t.
I only sent one back a few weeks ago, just took it off, put it into both bags and sent it off

I think people just get confused when it says that. People assume they can be removed.

As I say I just followed what they said over the phone.

Thanks all. Have removed it and put it in bags for return. Just noticed a bruise where its been and there was a fair bit of dried blood as well. Never had that before

That would be consistent with something going wrong during the application of that sensor.
That would probably explain why it didn't work from the off. I did exactly the same as usual, following all the instructions so maybe something wrong with the applicator

Some say that the bleeders have been more accurate for them.
When i rang Abbot i was getting LO consistently. They asked me questions and got me to test using the sensor and strips but said to return it and they would replace. Yesterday afternoon it suddenly started being more accurate but i'm wary as yesterday morning it showed i was able to drive but test strip showed 3.7. Have put replacement on now, more accurate

You leave battery in when you send back. I think they want them removing if send something like a blood glucose metre back.
Just pop it in the 2 plastic bags then the envelope. They’re good at replacing etc.

As previously mentioned, just bag it up and send it back. Removing the battery will destroy the unit and Abbot will not be able to test it or find out why it failed. It’s perfectly safe to post as is

I wouldn’t worry as they send the sensors and readers out to us with the batteries installed.
It’s probably a generic instruction leaflet they sent to you as the do make other BG meters where we need to replace batteries W hen they run down.

Thanks for your help all. Enjoy the rest of the weekend
