Libre query

I find my Libre sensors have consistently read approx. one whole mmol lower than finger prick at low levels ie hypo. so 2.6 will be more like 3.6 and a Libre 3.6 is likely to actually be mid 4s and therefore not hypo at all. You learn to take that and the time lag into consideration when treating a hypo.

Very basic question here as I am absolutely not proficient at using a mobile phone for anything other than phoning or texting and I have trouble using it as a phone fairly frequently even when I clamp my hand onto it I still seem to manage to somehow accidentally click on other stuff, hence I don't particularly wish to use it for Libre scanning, however someone made the comment that she used her phone to scan so that she could upload the Libre results to Diasend in order to share the results with her clinic. Eeek - does this mean that's the only way of getting the Libre info onto Diasend, or can you do it on a PC?
Turn the phone upside down and hold at the bottom. Touch the middle of the back of the phone on the sensor. Like a wand!

Until recently I have scanned my Libre with the reader that I bought at the start. This could then be downloaded to the Diasend, however there has been a suggestion that Diasend May withdraw this option.

More recently I have reluctantly switched to using the phone (thanks to @Kaylz for the hand holding).
I then got an invite to share my data with my DSN/consultant and I now don’t have to do anything. They can access the data from Libre link at any time. It is a lot easier.

My original concern was that Libre Link does not collate the pump info as well. However when I thought about how I used the data in Diasend it was mainly the patterns from the Libre and Time in Range that I used. That is all there and if there is a relevant change I have made to my pump settings I just add a note to the logbook, which they can see as well.

I use my PC all the time with the scanner and I agree the lag between scanned readings and finger prick can be irritating.

I love my libre, slightly addictive if I'm honest. This morning I'm reading 93% in target for 7 days and I'm chuffed to bits!😎 Considering the activities I do, I'm happy.

Blimey - 93% is brill.

I understand completely when eg someone is 99% in range for 26 days and then the D fairy alights on their shoulder for 2 days and wrecks it - but above 70% is the target for a very good reason ! :D

@SB2015 - you can do that just as easily via the Reader and a computer now - just download Librelink on the puter - I've already set it up to share mine. As long as you start a new sensor with the Reader first, before scanning the phone even without downloading Libre link to a computer, the App on the phone will happily record the readings taken with either.

Can't start it with phone and subsequently with Reader though, has to be Reader first.

More Rookie Qs - do you all religiously re-charge the Reader every week? Can you scan with it whilst it's charging? If you want to look at the Logbook, can you access that without having to wait for the initial Scan screen to tell you that you haven't scanned, then press OK in the corner which then gives you the choice of Scan or Logbook?

No (I wait until it looks about half charged) and I think no.

Yes, just press the button again.

Should have waited LOL - reader's just told me I needed to recharge it!

I will be testing from next Thursday to see if it will charge via 12v like my pump handset will even though Roche told me they thought that was doubtful. As it happens we should have mains on the site we are rallying at in Wales, but that's absolutely not always the case, a lot of rally fields don't offer electricity and so we're relying on either LPG or 12v (recharging via solar) for weeks at a time sometimes.

You can charge the Libre reader via a USB charger that plugs into car or into solar panel. The actual charging voltage USB devices need is 5V, and the USB chargers step down the 12V to 5V to suit.
Hope the rallying event goes well 🙂

I charge mine every morning for an hour whilst I have breakfast, shower and get ready and its never failed me.

Never use mine but fully charged it before I put it away as it advises, when I did use it I could get the 2 weeks out of it just doing scans with it xx

Ours lasts 3-4 weeks on a charge, I do it when I can see the battery indicator is below half, and charge it for a couple of hours during the night.

I have to charge approx. every 3-4 days but I solely use my reader both for readings and accessing data (since I can't get Libreview on phone or PC at the moment) and I seem to average about 32-33 scans a day.... Is that excessive?

Also does anyone know if Chromebook is compatible with LibreView?

Exactly the same as the pump handset Pete - so I can use the same USB 12v 'plug' we keep for that (some don't fit the sockets very well and when yer life depends on it it's a bit stressful wondering if it's charged properly or not! :D

I have not got a Chromebook, but I use it on Chrome Browser.

I don't have a Chromebook yet. I am looking to upgrade my computer because the current one is ancient and not compatible with LibreView and I don't want to fork out money for a Chromebook only to find that it isn't compatible either and thought someone reading this thread might know?

I'm guessing a Chromebook would not work. I don't see any sign that it would on the libreview website or the freestylelibre website. (Both suggest Windows, macOS, or certain compatible Android and iOS phones.)

Thanks Bruce. I was afraid that would be the case.... Now torn between a new PC with Windows 10 or an iphone.

Yes it looks like Chromebooks aren’t on the list of compatible devices?
