Very basic question here as I am absolutely not proficient at using a mobile phone for anything other than phoning or texting and I have trouble using it as a phone fairly frequently even when I clamp my hand onto it I still seem to manage to somehow accidentally click on other stuff, hence I don't particularly wish to use it for Libre scanning, however someone made the comment that she used her phone to scan so that she could upload the Libre results to Diasend in order to share the results with her clinic. Eeek - does this mean that's the only way of getting the Libre info onto Diasend, or can you do it on a PC?

If I swipe my Libre with the Libre reader, I can then download to Diasend to share my data along with all my pump data. You can’t download to Diasend from a phone but ...

If I swipe with my phone, the data is automatically uploaded to Libre View and shared with my DSN and Consultant ( once I had accepted an invite to share) without me doing anything. I have switched to doing this. I now add notes to my Libre readings where I think they are relevant to explain anything weird for my reference when reviewing the data. I have found that the phone gives me a clearer display as the screen is bigger, and I can still access all the other info like TIR, expected HbA1c, ..

It has definitely taken me some time to get used to having my phone on me all the time. I still use the reader when exercising as it is easier to stuff the reader into my bra since it is smaller than my phone!

I think if you use the Reader you can plug it in with the supplied USB cable and use diasend's software to upload it. I think Abbott recently (January 2020) removed the ability to use the phone app to upload the data. (The app can still upload to LibreView. It may be possible to use that somehow.)

(I've not used Diasend though: my local team uses LibreView for the Libre data.)

Diasend no longer accepts Libre information from phones, it only accepts information from the reader uploaded via cable and I think they were considering stopping that as well at some point in the future xx

Install Libreview on a laptop or PC, you can then plug the Libre reader in with its cable and upload all the data. Get the app on your phone and that will upload automatically. Either works, we do both for a complete picture. Your clinic will have to send you an invitation to share your data with them, you accept the invitation and that will enable your clinic but nobody else to see your data.

I have been using Libreview to send data to my clinic for at least a couple of years, and it is very useful. They do need to give you a code to allow them access. In addition to what Sally71 said, patient software installation (LibreViewDeviceDrivers) now seems to be done automatically if you don't have it when you log in. At least on a Mac, if you have the old Freestyle Libre app it is best to delete it beforehand as I find it can sometimes prevent the new driver finding the reader.

Thanks all! I'll just use the dinosaur reader and laptop as I already thought I would in the first place, I'm confident they'll both work reliably and I can drive both competently.
I don't how long you have your reader , but readers had an update in software, about a year ago, and i recall, reading some older readers were not able to update.

Well I shouldn't spend much time worrying about that if I were you - I haven't got it yet! - getting it Tuesday afternoon.

I scan with my phone during day and use reader during the night. If I go to the loo in the night I scan with phone so there’s no gaps in data. My hospital DSN can see all readings i shared a link with them. I don’t have to do anything for them to see it it’s great. I only use reader at night so I don’t drop phone etc.

Well there are no Sony's mentioned on their list of compatible phones so as ours are both Sony's that saves me even bothering to try using it as far as I'm concerned! 🙂 Suits me.

My daughter had a Sony phone that could read them, basically it has to have NFC capability to be able to detect the sensors. However, as you are quite happy with the official reader and have no intention of using a phone, that information is completely irrelevant lol :D:D

I’m old school too, Jenny! :D

Yep - Libreview all set up and just been sent link to hospital, so I'll be sorting that in a minute - had to sign the permission for them to look at my Libre info without me every time. Surprised the sensor went into my underarm flab rather than the side or back of my arm - but hopefully that helps with the overnight 'compression' issues that some people report?

I started it when I got home as the hour was up, then patiently waited approx 5 mins, sensor 6.5 with a horizontal right arrow and BG, 6.7. Not long before tea now so will double test again.

Sounds great! Hope you get a decent flow of data from them. As long as you din’t expect it to be 100% the same all the time (that way lies madness!).

Some read better than others for me, but most give very useful and usable data.

Back to see DSN and Tandem rep next Tues Mike, so hopefully after a week we'll both be able to see if it looks promising or not a bit better than just a couple of days LOL

It seems to be reading a tad higher than BG when it's much over 7 ish but this morning it was shwong 2 point summat versus 3 point summat and I didn't appreciate that. Also took a fair bit longer to get up to over 4, though BG had been there for over an hour. Because I over corrected the hypo in case I was really under 3 of course an hour later I was well into the 16s, so wouldn't do anything till I had my lunch for which I jabbed and corrected per pump handset algorithm, then waited another half hour before eating (carb content 25g ish, bread supposed to be 13.5g per slice) and wasn't even in single figures pre dinner just over a hour ago. Oh bottom! Scan 3.6, BG 4.4.

These little things are sent to try us ..... think I'll have a mini swiss roll .....

Yes the lag after lows (from all sensors, not just Libre) is very frustrating,
