I had a two week trial with the Libre which is the way my hospital trust does it and has a review with the DSN which was done over the telephone with the current crisis.

She has agreed it would be beneficial to me and I meet the criteria and has emailed the consultant regarding funding and the issue of a prescription however she said she would have no idea when this would be done because if f what’s going on now doctors have more serious priorities.

I was thinking in the meantime I could potentially self fund and buy the sensors myself for now?

Someone said Abbott were not currently selling to new customers? What about the ones you see on Amazon, can they be trusted? Or could my pharmacy sell me them in the meantime and charge me until the prescription is sorted?

I am not sure about Abbott taking new customers, you could give them a call. I am an existing customer, and my recent order took the normal time to arrive. Which was delivered last week.
A word of caution about buying from Amazon I believe we had someone who had a problem with a sensor, and Abbott would not replace as it was not from a recognized source. Some people were buying from pharmacies.

Abbott seem to be accepting accounts for new customers so I don't see a problem with creating an account now xx

Oh that’s brilliant news. I’ll get straight on to it.

Seems like I’m still out of luck-????

“The web shop is temporarily restricted to existing customers. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. If you have not yet registered to purchase the FreeStyle Libre system please subscribe to our newsletter. We will notify you as soon as product becomes available.”

Edit: it lets me go through to creating an account and to the payment page still, so do you think they just forgot to take the above down and will accept the order? Scared to pay if I don’t get the product.

you wouldnt have been able to create an account if they weren't taking new members trust me as I couldn't, and even if they didn't send it you'd have a case against them xx

Okay I’ll do it. Who usually delivers?

I think when they were not taking new customers you could only go on a list. It took me a year to get too the top. But that was about a year ago.
I would ring tomorrow.

Hi @MarkGeordie don’t worry. Abbott don’t take money until it’s delivered. I had my last 2 sensors for 4 days before they took payment. If in doubt give them a ring to speak to them. They are very good. Can’t really fault them in any way.

Hope you don’t have to wait too long for your sensors @MarkGeordie 🙂

Well it let me create the account, and order and got the confirmation email so I’ll just keep an eye out for a dispatch email.

Fo they provide tracking? Just so I can track with whoever should be delivering.

In my experience I seem to get the delivery THEN a day or so later get an email saying it’s dispatched. Generally speaking it’ll arrive in 4 days. They say 5-7 working days.

I ordered my latest batch on Monday at 10pm and they arrived Friday lunchtime. Had an email tonight saying by they’ve been dispatched!!! Bit like the address as you enter it isn’t truly English format ! the same seems to go for order > (actually) receive > (has been) dispatch(ed) email > pay!

Best ever service was order Tuesday 1030pm receive Thursday 9am !

I ordered mine Friday before last , and they arrived the middle of last week , fairly normal time frame.

Well it says “status: on hold” was a bit curious to what that meant. I went on live chat and they reassured me that they had successfully received my order and that I would get an email when it was dispatched. Hopefully might be here by end of the week. Can’t wait to start using it again.

Don't worry to much mine showed holding till a couple of hours before they were delivered. Then about an hour so after I had the dispatch email.

Ah that’s alright then. Thanks for the help.

Thought I would just update that I was very impressed.

Ordered Sunday night, got a email last night saying they had been dispatched and with the tracking link to Parcel Force, delivered 8.30am this morning.

Good. Glad the tracking works for you, for some reason the tracking has never worked for me.
