You do need a code. Don’t know how many numbers it is. I'll ask at my next diabetes appointment.

The old code was everywhere on the internet almost immediately after Libre1 launched. It was caa1c.

I'm surprised you get no 'low battery' alarm with your reader. Mine certainly has told me each time it has needed recharging.

Libre2 alarms make a HUGE difference to me, I have also found Libre2 to be significantly more in-line with my BG fingersticks in general (not that you can directly compare the two etc etc).

I think I'm getting a bit more battery life than you out of my handset, but I certainly noticed more of a dent in my phone battery with Libre2 than with DexcomG6 when I was using my phone as a reader for my first 2 sensors.

I'm collecting some compare-and-contrast data points between fingerstick, Dex G6 and Libre2 for my own amusement, and will probably turn them into a blog post at some point.

My Libre 2 reader only alarms when it needs charging, and the first time I was about to insert a test strip when it alarmed. I now try to charge before it runs down.
I have had 2 episodes this week where I have had the try again in 10 mins message. All I could think of when successful scan there has been a quick drop.

I'll likely have to take a spare charger to work for my reader. Normally I charge from my PC at home, although don't want to be left stranded at work with no charge.

Just a side note: Can the Bluetooth be turned off on the reader and still work? We aren't allowed to have our phones in the laboratory, for the same reason, as it may cause interference with the analyser performance. I understand Libre 1 uses NFC, but unsure of the exact specs for Libre 2 as yet.

I have seen much longer battery life with no alarms active, so I *think* that may mean that the bluetooth is not firing, but I’ve not got a reliable method of knowing for sure!

That may well line up with the battery life mentioned on Abbott's site (7 days standby time). Yes, I think a good old sample size =1 trial might be in order. I think the alarms will be very useful whilst at work where you could be forgiven for focusing on other tasks and not being as pro-active to scan. I'll try with and w/o alarms when I get my first batch of sensors and see what the difference is.

First libre 2 sensor applied yesterday, started it with phone app but noticed can't use reader as it said sensor was started by another device. Had to turn on alarms on app & location, bluetooth already enabled as use phone in car media system.

No alerts yet, red line showing on graph where both high & low are set, need to adjust high one as set to 13.3 so need to bring that down, so far so good, seems to be bit more accurate than 1 compared to bg readings, bg earlier 4.8 got 4.9 on app, not noticed draining phone battery but early days yet.

You can use both phone and reader, but you have to start with the reader first if you want to use the both *and* alarms can only happen on the device that started the sensor.

I think this is a real shame, and it would be great to be able to have alarms on both devices. Either for when one or other is charging, but especially if you could set different alarm levels on each.

I did ask Abbott why this was, and they tried to give some flannel about it being because of restrictions of Bluetooth - which it may be with the Bluetooth that Libre2 is using, but Dexcom G6 (also using bluetooth) certainly allows alarms simultaneously on phone and tSlim pump, so they have found a way around it.

Are you sure you can use both when sensor started by phone, my reader says it can't be used as started by another reader, take that it means phone so both can't be used, maybe if I started sensor with reader then phone but by looks of things not other way round.

Oh, that’s right @nonethewiser... well spotted. Sorry!

I’ll change my post. Sorry for the confusion!

Its alright mate, wanted alarms on phone so will do same next time, never used reader on libre 1 apart from starting sensor, prefer app on phone.

Alarm went off today, was dropping so low bg alert came up, busy at time so came in handy, funny enough phone was fair distance away from me at time, so far really like 2 version.
