I use only level 3. I don’t want to prick several times a day as it hurts and I’m a bleeder! I won’t get funding until they give me insulin, which I’m endeavouring to avoid by keeping an eye on balancing my levels. I probably won’t use a monitor every week and maybe just once a month at most. It helps me to see how foods affect me but that can be erratic.

That sounds very high!! I use an accuchek fastclix which is widely renowned as the least painful fingerpricker and I use it on setting 0.5. No wonder you’re bruising on 3! If you’re a bleeder turn it down to the minimum it goes to

I concur with @Lucyr - AccuChek FastClix is much better than any other one I've used and is totally painless with just the right amount of blood drawn to get an accurate reading - they are around £12 for the device plus the same for 204 lancets (which will last ages) - definitely worth the investment though IMO

I’ve a different one in the cupboard, newer model, sometimes the prick doesn’t produce enough blood and I have to do it again on another finger. I think maybe the skin is getting thicker. I just hate it and don’t want to keep pricking throughout the day. I hate being diabetic, I’ve tried to keep fit and healthy since my 40’s and the last 6/8 years I’ve had one serious health problem after another. So, I;m quite happy to pay for the monitors for respite and ease.

This just means the prick depth is not deep enough.
You can adjust this.

Bear in mind, the depth of your blood can change. Blood is nearer the surface when hands are hot so you do need to prick as deep. It is often recommended to warm your warms (e.g. hold a hit cuppa) before pricking.
