Hi i have been on the Libra 2 since 25th February 2021. I am on a Medtronic Insulin Pump. Last year i went into a coma. When i checked my sugars the night before it was 10.5 which would of got me through to the next morning fine. Unfortunatly i went into a coma and had a massive seizure. Thankfully i was in bed and my partner noticed, couldnt wake me and contacted 999. It was thought that it was my insulin pump at fault. They changed my pump but i was still getting high and low glucose readings. The diabetic team thought i should go on the Libra 2 trial. The first day i noticed a massive change. i felt myself going into a hypo. i did the sensor reading which indeed said i was 3.6 but on my finger pricker meter it said i was 8.9. i kept doing these tests and everytime they were both massively different. I contacted the diabetic nurse who suggested i get the finger pricker tested. I contacted the company where they sent out the solution to test and also a replacement just incase it was faulty. Indeed it was. Now i have a new finger pricker meter the readings are almost the same now. if it hadnt of been for the Libra 2 Sensor i would not of known that the meter i was using was giving false readings.

I’ve just tried out a few of Libre2 sensors and I was very impressed. i always got on very well with the Libre1, but (apart froma dodgy first sensor) I think the Libre2 tracks substantially closer to fingerpricks for me.
Sounds like your dodgy BG meter may have given you a false sense of security the night you had the siezure. Which is odd, because usually with sensors you would be inclined to think the capillary blood meter was the one to trust.
Was it one of the Contour Next XT meters that link to Medtronic pumps? Those are usually one of the most accurate on the market!

Sorry to hear about the problem you had with your test kit. Glad that you have got it sorted now, and that you had access to the Libre to spot the issues, and I hope that you never have a repeat of such a scary experience.
I do generally find that there are discrepancies between the sensor glucose and blood glucose, but then they are reading different things. However the Libre is so good for showing patterns, and it helped me to adjust the timing of my pre-Bolus throughout the day, as well as helping me to head off highs and lows.
I hope that things are more settled for you now.

Hi yes it was the contour next meter. Took few days to come. I tested the old meter with the solution and it was way out. The new one works perfect so I am well impressed with the Libra 2 sensor. Unfortunately the diabetic team would never allow me to have the Medtronic Sensors but because of having irregular readings and this is a free trial is the only reason they are allowing me on it. Hope they keep me on it as it is bleeping through night telling me I'm low or high.
