What’s everyone’s thoughts on lentils? I’ve never really had them but have found a recipe for mushroom and lentil pie but wondering if lentils huge no no

Unfortunately, there is not a definite answer for all with regard to pulses like lentils and chickpeas. The reason is that we digest them differently.
If you read the carb content for lentils, it can be quite high. But some of us do not break down the carbs and it ... ahem ... goes straight through. For others, we experience the "carb load" from them.

So the question is which type of lentil eating person are you?
The only way to find out is to test your blood sugars, eat the pie (sounds nice) and test again in 2 hours time. It may give you a nasty high reading in which case you will know not to eat them again or you may be one if the "non-digesters" and lentil pie can become one of your staples.

I generally find pulses far more gentle on my BGs than their ‘nutritional labelling’ carb amounts would suggest.

As @helli says, the best bet is to try them and see how your BGs react

I too find them a lot less spikey in my BG. I tend to spread the insulin over an hour as they seem to release more slowly. As with all things D related we each have to find what works for us and how it needs to be dealt with.
