Are you under a specialist wound management or vascular team?

Hi,
I had a small ulcer on my heel (nothing like yours). The artery was blocked behind my knee so a stent was not possible. Under went a ballooning procedure. The ulcer took about four months to heal. I am still under a podiatrist (3 years) who removes scar tissue that keeps growing making walking uncomfortable. Unfortunately ulcers do seem to take a long time to heal even with a good blood supply. Suggest you see your GP if possible who may be able to find some pain relief for you.

Hopefully you will soon start seeing some improvement. Healing starts from the edge and gradually closes. I had the edges trimmed with a scalpel to stop scar tissue from blocking the healing. Good luck and keep in touch.

Hi Andyb95, welcome to the forum.

I'm so sorry to see that you're having troubles with your leg. We can't provide medical advice of this sort so I'd encourage you to speak with your doctors about this just so they can keep an eye on things.

Wounds do take longer to heal with Diabetes but it's just worth checking that you're on the right track with how it is being cared for and that no further intervention is required.

you should discuss oxygen treatment with your team, apparently breathing supplemental oxygen has shown some very good results to aid the healing process.

Yowsers! that looks really nasty @Andyb95

Glad to hear you are getting it regularly dressed. Are you taking antibiotics or similar? Sounds like you should ask about pain relief too.

Hope you can begin to see improvements soon.
