Hi, Two weeks ago , I noticed that it was painful in the back of my thigh when getting out of a chair or when climbing upstairs. Then five days ago it got a lot worse wth pain in my calves when getting in and out of a chair, when trying to pick something off the floor, trying to turn over in bed, all those things hurt my thigh and calf , like I have strained or twisted it.

At night my calves ache so badly, and trying to get out of bed in the night is painful if I need a trip to the bathroom. It doesn't hurt when I walk, isn't red, swollen or anything else different in appearance. I find it difficult to bend to put socks on, it pulls in my calf, but then sometimes it pulls in my thigh . I don't take stations. Any ideas what it could be or is it something as simple as a sprain?

Sorry to hear this Daisy :( Are you on statin medication? Or have you recently started any new medications? What are your blood sugar levels like generally?

Blood sugar fairly awful, no statins. Last HBA1C was 9

Sorry, I missed that you said you weren't on statins! Have you been to the doctors? I would say it doesn't sound likely to be a sprain or anything of that nature if it has been getting worse over a period of two weeks and seems to affect different areas at different times, especially since it's not something you can attribute to any incident when you might have injured yourself. If you haven't already, I would make an appointment to discuss it with the doctor, as it could be related to your nerves or circulation.

Today it has been in my knee and ankle joints and the front of one of my shins. It feels like I have just pulled something but surely it would get better by now, thanks, I'll give the doc a ring. Wasn't sure if it was sciatica but wouldn't think yo would get in in both legs at the same time.

No, it doesn't sound like anything I have experienced, and I have had quite a few injuries, muscle pulls and sprains over 30 years of running! I hope the doctor can pinpoint the cause and give you a treatment that will relieve it 🙂 Let us know how you get on!

There are a couple of things that may have done it , I bought one of those lift up beds , it was quite heavy for me to lift but I can't rember if it felt painful, all I got some new boots which went as high as the middle of my calf , I wore them last Monday, they were agony half way to walking the five minutes to school, agony on my calves, never felt pain like it , but I didn't get any pain in my calves until Friday ,so don't know it if I was that or not.

Possibly a combination of things then?
