Relationship to Diabetes
Type 1
Hi
Newbie here. Type 1 for 28 years. Have some diabetes related issues, cardiovascular, peripheral vascular disease and I think am suffering from nerve damage to my legs. When I touch my legs they are very painful, even a slight touch. Is this nerve damage? Am due to have an ultrasound Doppler next week but know I won’t be able to stand the pain!
Does anyone else have this type of leg pain?
Thanks in advance

The only pain I get is very bad aching in my left leg and a very swollen leg and foot my foot swells that much that I can't get my trainers on sometimes. I also suffer with Neuropathy in my feet and have no feelings in them.

I have fibromyalgia and have this sort of pain sometimes. It’s worth a chat with your GP. It may be diabetes related but any new symptom should be checked out for cause and pain should be treated.

Hi Denpau, welcome to the forum.

I've not experienced this level of pain in my legs so I'm glad you're having an ultrasound so they can take a look into this for you.

Hopefully, if it is diabetes related, they'll be able to give you some tips on how to go about looking after your legs and reducing further damage.

I had same. Shins hurt. Legs were swollen most of the time.
I was diagnosed with lymphedema and now rest myegs...high as hips whenever possible and wear elastic stockings, prescribed by hospital. Much better now.

Hi Lizzy 1945. I think that's what I have got as I seem to remember at the hospital when I had got sepsis in my toes they said there was too much fluid in my leg and foot they put me on water tablets but on a repeat prescription which I never got. I had to wear elasticated stockings when I had 4 blood clots in my legs they don't fit me now they are way too tight.
