How frustrating for you. I have nothing more to add to the good advice from everyone but just wanted to send hugs and hope they do give you the test, maybe time to become more demanding and not take no for a answer.

Glad the doctor listened to you, and good blood results. You are doing great

When I was diagnosed with type 2, I had a friend who was a consultant (in something unrelated) who mentioned MODY and who out me in touch with the MODY specialist DSN for my area. I communicated with them via email and they sent a request to my GP for the test, this i bi-passed the hospital team and my diabetes just at the GP. I know all the specialist MODY and genetic diabetes nurses are in contact with Exeter and go there for regular updates etc. It might be worth contacting Exeter to find your local person and go direct through them. Apologies if teaching you to suck eggs.

It was not her GP she saw it was a hospital consu

I have emailed the MODY dsn in London area and didn't really get far. I'm just going to wait for the letter now and go back to see gp.

Truly sorry to hear this Stitch - This is about your health yet it seems you are encountering stumbling blocks which you could do without - I hope you receive a favourable response soon from the MODY DSN - please stay in touch x

Hhmm frustrating appointment Stitch even if he was a nice consultant. Is that it for hospital help? Were you given a follow up appointment to see how altering the medication does/doesn't work or is it back to you and your gp?

An HbA1c of 53 equates to an average bg of about 8.5mmol/L so apart from your higher waking levels your bg must be lower and in range a lot of the day. I really hope you get some better follow up to work out a plan for the morning readings as presumably there must be something that is causing it apart from your liver putting out too much glucose for the day. Keep at them Stitch 🙂

So, I have made an appointment with my GP, its not until the end of the month though (my choice, because of my looming dental sedation on the 23rd). As I have been on metformin previously and it didn't really make a difference to my BG levels, waking or during the day, I am going to ask to give Victoza a try. Ive heard good and bad things about it, but everyone is different and I am willing to try it to see if it helps me, bith with BG levels and getting the weight back off.

Hi Stitch,
Hope the appointment goes ok, I was a user of Victoza in the past was not for me but as you say everyone is diffirent so I hope your able to try it out and it works for you x
