Relationship to Diabetes

Random question I know but it cropped up in a conversation I was having this morning.
A friend had said to me she told her sister she had bought someone who is a diabetic type one a radox lavender gift set, one of those ones that contain the bubble bath, bath oil and bath bomb, and she turned around and warned her and said diabetics shouldn't use products with lavender in.
In all my years as a diabetic ive never heard this. Any truth in it?

Nope never heard it and all the health articles on google don't say to avoid it either xx

Ask her why not, I bet she can’t give a reason, it sounds like a load of codswallop to me.

Im glad to see others are in agreement. I had never heard it before and couldnt see anything online.

Really? Good grief, I have a lavender 'stick' and rub it on my temples daily for the smell and because it's supposed to be good for you. It's also supposed to help you sleep so I have a bag of lavender hanging off the bedpost. Must google...

'Researchers found that in animal experiments, lavender essential oil helped balance high blood sugar levels and protect against oxidative stress, which causes complications in people with diabetes. Lavender oil is available for purchase online.' 28 Mar 2019

It’s all guff. If you had a bath in baked beans, you wouldn’t go hyper. Your skin is there to keep the inside in and the outside out. All that lavender oils do is affect the outer layer of the epidermis, which is essentially dead and has no blood supply. That’s what the skin does - protect the body from bugs, chemicals and UV light.

Never heard any connection either. Be a bit tough being T1 if you happened to be born in Provence wouldn't it!! This T1 spent a fortnight tent camping towards the bottom of a valley there in August some years ago and the upslope opposite our tent was one of the very many lavender fields. Blooming lovely! Great fortnights sleep too. Just wonderful and I highly recommend it.

Never heard of it but I'm allergic to lavender anyway.

Hehe! I wondered if you’d noticed any difference in sleeping 🙂
