Thanks again, all.

A question: two people (one being my daughter) have recommended cranberry juice to help get rid of my urine infection - is this ok for diabetics (in moderation)? I've been given antibiotics by the doc.

Well you'll have to check the carbs on the carton, but there again it can be sour. There's no actual scientific reason why it should work, and it never helped me when I had UTIs. I think it's one of those things that people think helps because they want it to. Placebo effect.

However - ABs do work!

With me - usually a sign my BG was being too high for too long periods at a time and that's the long and short of it. I always had thrush after taking ABs for a UTI for exactly the same reason - ABs also kill off the helpful bacteria that would otherwise kill the fungus.

Hmm, we're shopping in the morning so I might look for a *small* carton, just to tell my daughter I'm trying it!. And so to bed, as it's 10.50pm..... ZZZzzzzzzzzzz

I'm amazed you are not below 42 yet. I think your one of them people who holds on to their glucose longer than me.
Yep think you're right there Mark...I did look it up its called high glycation...I rarely have more than 50 carbs per day...sometimes less...I'm okay with that...I've got used to it.

Cranberry Juice is about 25-30 carbs per cup PM...so it's quite carby...there is some suggestion it can help to prevent UTI's...but as yet no definite proof it will help once you have an infection...I'd just stick to the antibiotics if I were you

There’s a non scientist talking Northie. 🙂 If cranberry juice AND antibiotics are taken, which one did the job when it gets better? That’s how myths are made.🙄

Cranberry Light is only 1.5g carbs per 100ml, so worth a try I would have thought 🙂
Yes! This is the one I bought this morning, after scrutinising the labels.... I had a small glass with lunch, and it was quite refreshing anyway, so I shall do the two hour test and see what's what...

Haha! Yes, the antibiotics have started to work anyway, and I am certainly feeling better already, but if this Light version doesn't spike then It will be nice to have something else to drink (in moderation 😱) !

...coming back to this to report that before lunch it was 5.1, two hours later it's 6.6, so that's not bad 🙂
