My understanding is that lower is better. I think John Walsh suggests that an SD of one third of your average BG is good control. And of course the lower your average the better (up to a point!).

SD shares unit values with the average and shows the range +/-, so an average BG of 6, with an SD of 2 would mean that most of your readings were between 4 and 8.


Cheers for that information, my recent sd for the 30 day period is 1.9 before food and 2.1 after, looks like I'm there about.
