Well just got my Hb1c results through and gone from 88 to 63 since May 7th so pleased as heading in the right direction.
How long does it normally take to get yourself in remission ?

No rules on that one @Steve711. My guess is a couple of months to get below 48 and maybe a couple more to get below 42. Some have done it faster, some have done it slower.

Whether that counts as remission depends on how you define remission, and that is a much debated subject!

Either way up, whatever you are doing is working, so keep it up. 🙂

I was back in normal numbers at 6 months but was not declared officially in remission for some years, as I got annual checks and it needs - I think - 3 normals to be considered no longer actively diabetic.

Thanks for the replies.
I guess its going to take a few more months then to get into a normal range but am i right in thinking that as i have gone down 36 points since April 20th it should eventually be doable ?
I do understand that once at that stage i would need to keep up these lifestyle changes otherwise i would start going backwards but can you get away with the occasional treat without it messing up your Hb1c results ?

Whatever you have been doing has obviously been working for you so onwards and downwards. It may get a bit harder the nearer you get to that non diabetic zone but as long as you are going in the right direction for now then take some credit for that. 🙂

I did 91 to 47 in 3 months, then to 41 in 6 months, but I was very incautious - I was taking Atorvastatin and Metformin and reacted very badly.
I was eating as little carbohydrate as one tomato and a handful of salad a day - it was probably thoughts of the cheese, tomato and green salad I used to order in Italy which got me through the darkest days, and nights.
At least I am still here and far more cheerful, and my Hba1c is still just at the top of normal and it was late 2016 when I was diagnosed.
