OMG I had the normal lancets with the pen, I found the 30G getting very uncomfortable so asked for 28G or 25G lancets. When they came on prescription I got these safety lancets at 28G which you use without the pen.

these hurt even more. 😱

It says to apply slight pressure, but I had to push really hard to get it to release.

Talk about torture. Well I've used one out of a 100 and don't intend using any more, so if any one wants them.... let me know.

i dont even like the look of those!

If you can you should see about getting the Accu-Chek FastClix lancing device - https://www.boots.com/accu-chek-fastclix-lancing-device-10216443 then there are 6 lancets in the drum that you just need to turn the thing to get a fresh one, its a really good device and I don't feel it at all, even when I was pricking 8+ times a day xx

That's the one I have, and I agree it's nice. Easy to adjust the depth. (A former colleague developed Type 2 and had one, and reported that it really hurt the one time he'd accidentally set the depth to 5. When set appropriately it's about as good as such a thing can be, I think.)

Ouch! Sorry to hear this.

I’m another long-term accu-chek lancing device user. Occasionally I use random other ones from various meters, but Fastclix or Multiclix (and Softclix many years ago) have always been my go-to.

I think it’s worth giving the IDDT a try once you’ve got better lancets.
I too use the Fast clix, do see if your Gp will prescribe them , the lancing devise is well made and easy to use also far less faff than removing and replacing individual lancets every time, that’s if you change them every time.
 
Such a waste these pressure activated safety lances. My finger is still sore today, I shan't be using them again. Guess I will email the diabetic nurse else they wont prescribe more if they think I am still using these. The old lancets as mention 30/31G using the pen and I always had the distance on the lowest. Using the old bought testing kit the lancets were only 25g and they were fine. So are NHS now prescribing stuff no one wants to use because they committed to buying the cheapest, and the amount of plastic in these Pressure activated ones are far worse than the pen lancets.

Do you get replacement lancets on NHS or do you have to buy a new Accu- Check Fastclix once all 6 lancets used?

What needle guage do you go for?

The lancets can be bought (or obtained on prescription, subject to the usual weird local rules) separately. They come in boxes of 200+4 lancets (34 drums of 6).
