Lancets

This might be a really silly question but here goes. Just wondering why lancets sometimes come in different colours. Is it just to make them look interesting or do the different colours mean something?

I found different manufactures use different colours, no specific reasons for the choice of colours, going back in the very distant past if memory serves me correctly one manufacture used two different colours when they where changing the actual lancet pin to a thinner one.

I've always used the Accuchek Multiclix, which doesn't have different colours. Perhaps you are supposed to use a different colour when you change it once a year? 😱 😉 (Many people hardly ever change their lancets, me included 😱)

I've got a box of rainbow coloured lancets at present and can confirm they make not one jot of difference to me from using battle ship grey lancets. I change colours on the rare occasion I change lancets but coloured ones really don't add anything to my finger pricking day!😛 I'm currently using purple for late Summer/Autumn 2017 🙂

Colours within a batch don't indicate any difference, but different manufacturers / models are different to each other. Personally, I like a mixture of colours, so that I can eg use green lancets in finger prickers, but also have some other colours (blue / red / purple / orange / yellow) to use to removing splinters etc from myself or anyone else, so that I know which are which.

I loved my new testing kit from the gp when I collected the box of lancets and they were multi coloured. I was like "oooooh fancy!" The decided to use the purple ones last! But I have 200 of the little buggers every month on repeat prescription!!!

I have quite a big collection as well of semi transparent green ones, for some reason the docs think I need some new lancets when ordering test strips.

Mine are pale blue off amazon as gp don't supply any think for tp2. Have had grey before now x

I have no idea why they're different colours but it's amusing. You have to stab yourself, but here, have some pretty colours to cheer you up
