I've just seen that the pack of lancets I use with my Blood Sugar monitor seems to have the Best Before End date of Nov 2020. What would be the risks of using these lancets after the BBE date?

Risks minimal if any, used lancets years out of date before. They are cheap as chips so order more if unsure.

I looked at mine before dinner just to see. Prescribed in 2018, BB July 2022 so NP but I'd use em anyway unless they made me shout Oww cos they were blunt.

The more concerning thing for the lancets (Greenlan) I'm prescribed is the consistently inconsistent length of the actual lancet needle. Some have a needle twice as big as the rest, and some have no needle at all. I know @nonethewiser said they're cheap, but these ones take the biscuit.

Tell your doctor they are far too inconsistent for anyone who needs to test their BG as much as you do - rub it in with a very firm heel of the biggest pair of boots you can find.

Have fun!

Ask him for a Roche Fastclix bodger and lancet cassettes instead., because your friends at D UK all say it's the kindest and most suitable for a multi use patient.

That'll make him sit up and take heed!

I’ve never thought to look for a BBE date on mine, and have used the same box for years (mostly the freebies in the box last until the bodger is worn out 😳

Don’t seem to have come to any harm* 😛

* Not medical advice. Check the instructions etc etc

I have just looked and the Fast Clix cartridges even have the expire date on them . They must have a long expiry date as I have not bought any for at least year, the one I checked is 09/22.
