A few weeks ago I got given a new accu chek monitor to get used to before having a pump. Hospital sent letter to gp to state the consumables I would need. After contacting the gp surgery saying I need the lancets to suit this monitor each time was told ok can see the hospital letter will put them on for you. Went to collect from pharmacy not there, phone surgery told sorry will do, back to pharmacy 3 days later not there. Phoned surgery again today and.told doctor needs to speak to me first before prescribing the new lancet drums. Extremely annoyed and frustrated as overall been 2 weeks trying to get these. Now have to wait till thursday before doc available to speak to aaarr.

That's ridiciulous! Why on earth does the doctor want to see you to discuss lancet drums?? What a waste of everyone's time, money and resources! 😡

Got no idea why he needs to speak to me first, will let u know thursday. My only thought is these ones are more expensive than my previous ones.

What lancets are they?

I've got about 300 sat waiting to be used, if they are what I use. I can send you some?

There can't be much in it, certainly not more than the costs of him seeing you! I'm still on my first box of AccuChek lancets that I got when diagnosed nearly 5 years ago! 😱 I'll be very interested to hear the reason he gives!

Thanks lauras, have got plenty of my old ones so not an emergancy, ive only had the drum that came with the pack. Doctor doestetnt even want to see me, have been told it will be a telephone appointment.

Ahhh sounds like what I use if there is 6 lancets in it.

But if you need any & the doc is being silly let me know.

Yeah, it is the six in a drum one. will let you know if I need some, thanks 🙂

I think there might be some differences between Multiclix and Softclix lancets, so make sure you get the right ones for your fingerpricker 🙂

I may be being stupid her but surely any lancing device will do, it doesn't have to be the accucheck multiclix one. Although it is daft that you haven't been prescribed a pack. I presume this is the Mobile meter with the attached lancing device and pack of 50 build in test strips. Go and kick up a stink at the surgery.

just spoke to doctor and he told me that he cant prescribe those lancets as there are no lancets by accu chek listed on the nhs prescription list. This cant be correct surely, as i have had the accu chek test strips already. So, am now waiting for the hospital dsn to get back to me so i can explain the situation to her and let her sort it out with the surgery.

Perhaps he needs to look for Roche? They are listed in the NHS Drug Tariff under the section IXA Hypodermic Equipment as Multiclix and Softclix:

You used to be able to find the PIP ordering codes but they've changed things and I don't see it now.

🙂

thanks Northerner, i will print that list out, im sure that will come in handy in the future, and yes that was the problem they are under ROCHE multiclix not accu chek like i was asking for. Amazing how you would know that and not a doctor lol.

Probably nothing to do with your situation brett , but..
about 10 days ago put in my usual request for more Accu-Check Mobile finger stabbing` doodads... magazine/drums of six
Took a week to get them, chemist searched far and wide, none to be had.
evidently there had been a problem with the manufacturing side
at least it wasn`t horse contamination, maybe 😱
Next time will order `earlier` Justin case

I hadn't realised that the softclik and the multiclik used different lancets - that just confirms me in my choice of sticking to my old lancet device, since I still have the original box of drums I collected when I was given my first Accuchek meter in 2008!

Haha! Snap! :D

LOL - I've had my 'Expert' type thingummy for 2 years and I'm afraid I only have 1 and a half 'sleeves' of the first of the original 2 boxes I had on scrip. Cos I do find these go blunt a bit quicker than the old fashioned sort of a lancet, and I'm now using a drum nearly every month LOL BUT!!! it's only set at 1.5 which is great.

Hi everyone. With regard to the Fastclix lancets, I've just received a letter from Accu-Chek stating exceptional demand across the country has led to areas experiencing a temporary shortage of lancets. They give an address to complete a form for an interim solution. (Don't know if I'm allowed to post it here so if someone could let me know please.) You need to provide meter serial no and they will sent a different set for anyone experiencing problems with supply.

Another one here who's stuck with their old finger pricker....I'm using a One Touch Ultrasoft that I've had for years 🙂

Thanks for this Bob - I knew there was yet another type besides the Multiclix and Softclix, gets very confusing!

Fine to post the address here if you wish 🙂
