No.

How quickly after taking it? (I'm wondering if it's a drop in BG that you're feeling, though I'd still be surprised since the fall won't be that fast.)

Thanks for reply I can sometimes feel off balance and motion feeling like been on a ship which can last all day but seems to be worse after about 1-2 hrs after novo rapid I’m on fixed dose before each meal till I speak with diabetic team next week also I take a fixed background

Do you test your levels when you feel like that and if so, what sort of readings are you getting?
Also, how far in advance of your meals do you inject your NovoRapid? Just wondering if your levels are sky rocketing because you aren't giving the NR enough of a head start and then plummeting later, which can make you feel really rough even if it doesn't drop you into a real hypo.
Do you have Freestyle Libre Sensors to see what is happening?

Hi my level s can be anything from 8-10 even happen s when I’m 13 I’m not on the libre yet but I have had only one telephone call with a consultant since diagnosis beginning of October and don’t have another telephone appointment next week so hopefully I’ll get a libre as I’ve been told I qualify I just feel I’ve had no support and have had to rely on others for advice I was told to inject novo about 10 mins before I eat a meal and take 5 units before each meal 3 times per day and 8 units of lantus

I wonder if you’re experiencing “false hypos” where you’re getting a reasonably large drop in BG, even though you have readings between 8 and 10, if it is a drop from a much higher level then it can feel like a hypo?

I’ve not had any reaction to Novorapid (other than hypos if I take too much).

You say that you can feel motion disturbance all day long, so could it be something else? Inner ear infections can cause that, so it may be worth asking your GP?

Thanks for replying people I’ve spoken to have mentioned my dose could be too high but I don’t dare alter it till I’ve spoken to nurses next week but Im thinking could it be anxiety I’ve gone from quite a confident person to dreading social situations I’m just so fed up

If you lowered your dose slightly, what would happen? Nothing bad. Insulin isn’t like other meds where they give you your dose and that’s that. Your dose will vary. Part of Type 1 is learning to adjust your insulin as needed.

Type 1 can cause anxiety too, yes. Remember you’re in control. It’s your condition and you’ll be the ‘driver’ during your journey with it. Perhaps part of your anxiety is feeling control has been taken from you?

Would you be able to call your nurse to ask for advice sooner than next week?

As @Inka says lowering your Novorapid slightly would not have any bad effects and is something we do all the time to balance insulin against carb intake, exercise, etc., etc. You are in control and will be given help and advice from your healthcare team on how to manage dose adjustments for you.

Don’t let it get you down, it’s a learning curve but you can do it! There is plenty of help available from your healthcare team as well as loads of people on this forum with practical experience and advice.

I agree with @Inka. I suspect your meal dose is wrong for what you are eating. It is a lot to learn very quickly after diagnosis, and your team will take things step by step with you. They will also want to bring your levels down steadily and it is common to start people on fixed doses initially.

You might find it helpful to test before your meal and again two hours after your meal. Record this information along side what you have eaten for a particular meal, especially if you can work out how much carbohydrate you have eaten. This will be the basis of decisions that you make about your meal doses in the future, so making a start on working that out will help you and your team to make adjustments to your ratios.

As others have said we each need to make fairly regular adjustments, as there are so many factors that effect our glucose levels. It is a bit like learning to drive. It all seems a lot to do at the start but then much of it becomes automatic. Try to be patient with yourself and keep firing away with questions. There is loads of experience to tap into on here.

It does get better. I'm a year since my diagnosis t1 lada and the first couple of months are quite scarey. It gets so much better with experience, and the libre is a great tool

Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit wobbly @Clarelryxx

A quick look around and I can’t see balance issues mentioned as a possible side effect of Novorapid online, and I can’t see it listed in the patient information leaflet in my boxes of NR.

I wonder if it may be more related to your mood and anxiety? A feeling like the ground is shifting beneath you?
