Haven't posted for a while im afraid... kinda lost my way somewhat, but doing ok - according to my last Hba1C anyway!
However, my last blood test showed micro-albumin levels were too high, and i have now been started on lisinopril, to try and stop protein leakage.

everything I have read online about this seems to indicate this the first level to kidney damage. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't know whether this is going to be a long term problem or not?

Hi Doddy! 🙂 I think this is one of those things that can be temporary, so hopefully it will be fine at your next check. How is your blood pressure? This is an important factor to consider regarding kidney health - the lisinopril is primarily a blood pressure medication.

Hello Doddy
about n+ years ago I was put on Lisinopril to get my BP down. High, even with several hundred kms cycling a month.
Then called in by GP, "nothing to worry about, your kidneys are leaking...a bit...no need to worry or panic😱.. we will put you on Lisinoprol"
Already on it DOC..its in the notes in front of you🙄

"oh..right...well carry on with it then..bye"

After each Hbac1 test I ask about the kidney function and have had no more `bad` news about them. So "assume" all is well, so far
Still taking the tablet

In addition, some months later I saw my actual GP, couldn`t avoid him (4 * pratt IMO )about another issue. When asked about the kidneys the reply was..."Nothing wrong with them, the other person tends to go off the deep end" Glad he does, as he was the one who set the ball rolling that eventually found the dreaded Prostate Cancer

Hi Northie 🙂 Some GP put on my record that I suffered with High BP, but I never have! So she has removed that from my records. She said the kidneys leaking could be reversed, but didn't go into any more detail...but when I read stuff online (prob not a good thing to do!) it says it can be the first step to failure (great!)...I am not worrying too much but it would be good to know if this is long term or not.

Tejbat, glad your GP was thorough....there are some good ones out there 🙂
