Hi @Spraggy, I think some people have reported good results on this forum. I personally find it a bit confusing, and don't like some of the food it advocates. As a simple soul I find it easier just to cut out taters, bread etc and just eat a "normal" diet beyond that. I'm sure someone pro-keto will post soon!

I'm the same as @Vonny I eat low carb (approx. 50-70g carbs a day) but I just modify a normal-ish diet. I don't eat bread, pasta, rice, couscous, potatoes, breakfast cereal etc and I substitute/bulk out with lower carb veggies (often cooked in butter or cream cheese) and I eat more full fat products like cream and cheese etc, but I am not committed enough or have the time or inclination to go full keto.

We have some members who have found it very effective, others for whom it hasn’t worked at all, and still others who had good results, but found it wasn’t sustainable for them long term as it was too restrictive.

I think if it’s a strategy you would like to explore, perhaps try a more general low-ish carb diet first, and work your way down?

Thanks for the input, I basically think the same don’t think I have the commitment as it’s too strict !

I am useless with numbers so I dont carb count/weigh food etc. but I only have very low amount of carbs. No potatoes, cereal, rice, pasta, bread etc. I do use lots of Keto recipes. It was hard/confusing to begin with but it does soon get easier to know what to eat. I enjoy my meals and because of increased full fat/good fats dont feel hungry. And my test results are good!

I’m on the low carb diet , I’m loving it but I will say it isn’t easy as I’m trying to find different options on what to eat , I finally bought myself a low carb cook book and tend to buy more of them so I can have a variety of meals to eat instead of having the same thing day in and day out and will be easier to go food shopping to, I’m agreeing with jill with the full fat and good fats I feel full after having these type of foods. . I will admit because I been on it for 6 weeks , on the 5th or 4th week in, the sugar craving did kick in and lasted 2 days but I managed to kick it in the guts and haven’t had a sugar craving since then. I do have 1 slice of low carb bread and that’s fine for me, as I use to love bread like you wouldn’t believe , I also alternate between that and lettuce leave in replacement of bread and it tastes amazing . I think give it a go , go steady though and see how you like it , it’s not for everyone . I know it’s working for me and I feel a lot better for it and I’m loosing weight but working on my muscles. And resistances . 🙂

I went low carb (50g) but not quite low enough for keto as it was just too hard to eat such a low carb amount! It had really good results and I have maintained low carb but increased to about 70g.
I did buy a couple of keto recipe books and find them really good.

KETO is just a shorthand description of a diet which puts you into ketosis, rather than glycosis, where you'd be using glucose as fuel.
I know that my 40 gm a day diet puts me into ketosis because I smell funny and step into the shower twice a day to minimise it, and use a mouthwash as the ketones also emerge in the breath.
Those are the downsides, but 40 gm of carbs a day keeps my blood glucose and weight under my control, and I find the foods delicious and very varied.
I have a lost of about 50 vegetables and fruits which are low carb enough for me to eat, and I have a box of herbs and spices and a freezer full of meat, seafood and fish, frozen mixtures of fruits and veges.
I have various kitchen 'toys' such as a slow cooker, halogen oven, air fryer, a waffle maker to produce 'chaffles' which are cheese waffles and very useful to replace bread, and various other things which are probably more useful on a low carb diet than a 'normal' one.
I have gone from fully diabetic back to normal numbers and I can't imagine trying to cope with more carbs now.
