Anyone with any experience with keto diet? Ive been doing this for 5 months now gone from 158kg to 132kg, im pleased but the last month or so ive stalled lost nothing. Ive got a gp appt tom to find out if my BG gas improved, but im desperately trying to figure out why this isnt working now, i believe at my current weight it should still be falling off. I monitor my macros and stay below my calorie limit 1200, im usually at 900-1000. I do intermittent fasting too, 7pm to 12 the next day.

Any ideas greatly received?

I wouldn’t count calories...you really don’t need to on Keto...and rely more on your macros. Try eating more - your healthy fats, proteins, as well as continuing with the IF.
Well done with your great weight loss so far!

Ah - you have slowed your metabolism - we are so adaptable and we are the result of a lot of surviving hard times. Your metabolism has enabled you to survive on the amount of food available.

Eating more, and maybe reducing carbs, changing when you eat might all help - having breakfast and being out all day moving around, then coming home to a dinner which has been simmering all day enabled me to beat type two diabetes, and somewhere along the way I lost 12 inches off my waist and quite a bit of weight - without trying - but it is just what worked for me.

Just checking - do you mean 158 / 132 *pounds* rather than kg? If it's kg then I think that 1000 cal/day should be way way less than yr bod burns even doing nothing and it might not be the best thing to be doing over a period of months - so I'd talk to the doc about it.

If it's pounds then it might be that yr bod has adjusted to lower its energy expenditure so again maybe worth talking to doc or nutritionist about that if it's a big issue for you. If you want to dig into why this happen, excellent book just published by a leading researcher in the field: https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/books/603894/burn-by-herman-pontzer-phd/

But also, if it is pounds, any particular urgency to lose more weight? 132 lb should put you at a generally "healthy" level, I would have thought.

Hi... thanks for the replys, unfortunately its definatley kgs, i started this at 25 st and now at 20. Ive just naturally fallen into that amount of calories as keto seems to have reduced my appetite but ill try a period of more calories and see if that helps.

@Becky1984 - If you just Google "weight loss not a straight line" you will find lots and lots and lots on this.

To be honest, we've probably all, at one time or another quipped, "I just need to look at that and I gain 2kg (or whatever). That short term gain is usually just water retention, often associated with carbs, or simple bulk.

There are many, many things influence our day to day weight - even when stable.

I'm pretty slight, but even though my weight has been very stable for years, on a day to day basis, I can very by up to 2kg. I can be lighter if dehydrated, or if I've eaten lightly (small meals, not necessarily LC/low cal or whatever), for example, and I can weigh more if I've had a great big meal - even if keto, if I'm constipated (sorry, TMI) or if I'm retaining water for whatever reason.

If you are sticking to your successful way of eating, then stick with it. You may experience quite a downship one day.

All of the foregoing is assuming you are eating adequately and not putting yourself into starvation mode, which is extremely unhelpful.

In your shoes, I might be inclined to keep a strict food diary of everything I ate and drank for a couple of weeks, just to ensure there isn't any carb creep happening.

Well done on that very significant weight loss. I hope you feel better for it.

OK. Anyway, great job losing so much weight! I bet you see something good from your next BG test.

900 - 1000 calories isn't enough to sustain you, your body has gone into starvation mode. I would suggest you install a good keto app.
I use Ketodiet, you enter all your info and how quickly you wish to lose weight and they calculate your base metabolic rate, or BMR, and work out how many calories you need a day.
It will also help with your macros calculations, ie, making sure you have 5% carbs, 20% protein and 75% fat. I know that doesn't seem much protein, but it's more than you think. Fat has a very high calorific value as opposed to protein, so the weights aren't much difference.
Intermittent fasting also helps. Because of your high fat intake and the fact you're not constantly spiking your blood sugar with carbs, you're not hungry all time, so intermittent fasting is easy. It's not recommended for type 1 diabetes though.
Hope this helps.
