Hey guys. I may have ruined my chances of a great Hb1AC the other day. I was invited to a homecoming for a friend of mine from Fiji Islands. I was sat in the group on the floor around a bowl that i can only discribe as dirty dish water (no offence intended for any of the Fijian community). It was very ceremonial and i was taught the customs and the meaning behind it all.

The Grog is a root made into a powder and then a drink. i got very inebriated to say the least.

I woke the next morning feeling great. Until i realised that i had my blood tests that morning. I also found out that Grog is very high carb.

My question after all this time is a simple 1. Will that 1 high affect my Hb1Ac?

No Mike, worry ye not! It will have absolutely no effect on your HbA1c results 🙂 The HbA1c is a measure of the amount of glucose your blood has been subjected to over the previous 6-12 weeks, so one night of Fijiian folly will not register 🙂
