Hello. There. Said it.
I'm in my 67th year, diagnosed Type 2 a couple of years ago, now on two drugs to try and control it since for other medical reasons I cannot exercise really, and can't lose weight due to drugs being taken. Otherwise there's no way I'd be putting more drugs in my system, but needs must and all that.
I'd be interested to know if anyone else feels physically tired a lot more than they used to, sometimes it feels like walking through treacle with my legs heavy, and arms/shoulders heavy after light housework. Didn't used to be like this until my blood sugar went down from the 7s to the 6s. Had a load of blood tests done last month as the palpitations have kicked in again, but these aren't related to blood sugar as I had a spell of them several years ago, before being diagnosed. I know we tend to slow down as we get older, but this is ridiculous.
Any comments would be welcome, as long as they are polite - had my fill of rude people on forums and social media in general.

Hi Ditzyoldme, welcome to the forum 🙂 Only friendly folk here! 🙂 Have you been tested for thyroid deficiency or anaemia? I think it's unlikely to be blood sugar related, but it may be related to the medication/combination of medications you are taking. I'd suggest getting a medication review from your pharmacist - they are often more clued-up about drug interactions and side-effects, so may be able to make some suggestions 🙂 What meds are you taking, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Ditzyoldme , Welcome to our friendly forum.
I agree with @Northerner in getting a medication review. It would be a good idea to see your gp as well.

Hello to you Ditzy.

3mg Glimipiride and 5mg Linagliptine. Most of the usual drugs I'm not allowed to take.

Being slow & tired is normally a sign of higher BG. When I am right bg I feel fit. Welcome Ditzoldme. 🙂

Hello Ditzyoldme, welcome to the forum 🙂

Do you think sometimes it's just plain old age? I'm 64 and have definitely slowed up a lot. Back in the day I'd be in the garden happy as larry at 5 am. These days I'm lucky to get out there for an hour much later in the day. Also being overweight makes me feel rotten. Are you the correct weight? Good idea about asking the chemist because all these drugs have side effects, I hates taking them. :(

I put some of it down to getting older, but the way it has happened suddenly, not slow creeping up type of thing, makes me wonder if its something else. I am overweight, steroid the cause as I eat healthily and always have, never changed what and how and when I eat for a decade now. Not massively, but a stone in my opinion. However it won't come off, I know that and have accepted it and so it has been a certain level now, give or take a few pounds either way, for the last three years. So I am maintaining it, even if it is too high!

Welcome aboard (from another slightly ditzy mature person:D)

Thanks, always nice to know one isn't alone in one's ditziness. Most of my friends seem sane... or maybe it's me that's sane and they are the ditzy ones? Seriously though - Bravo on surviving cancer, how long has it been?

Welcome to the Forum Ditzyoldme. You will find everyone friendly on here. I know what you mean about rudeness in forums and social media but I have not encountered it here.
