Relationship to Diabetes
Type 2
Hi I'm just new on here. Was told I was type 2 week before Christmas put on Metforim and Statins still trying to get my head around it. Doing not to bad but had an emotional day at the weekend and full of self pity why me. But hey ho have and need to get on with it. Anyone else finding it hard.

I suspect everyone on here finds it hard! If diabetes was easy, this forum wouldn't have nearly so many participants 🙂

Try not to let it get you down. You will get used to it and ask as many questions on here as you like. I find people very helpful on here.

Hi Evie, welcome to the forum 🙂 I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis, it must have come as quite a shock as it does to everyone, and it takes time to take it all in, so be kind to yourself.

The good thing about diabetes is that it is something that you can do a lot about to improve your health and blood sugar control. Indeed, many people find that the new perspective and focus it gives them can lead to them feeling much happier and healthier in the long run - honest! 🙂 Have a browse of our Useful Links thread for links to some good resources. I'd particularly recommend reading Jennifer's Advice and Maggie Davey's letter to give you an understanding of what it's all about and how to tackle it. Type 2 Diabetes: The First Year by Gretchen Becker is also highly recommended by many of our forum members - a bit of bedtime reading for you! 🙂

Please let us know if you have any questions, there are lots of experienced and knowledgeable people here who are happy to help, and most of them are friendly too! 😉

Hi and welcome to the forum. It can be daunting and difficult after being diagnosed. I'm fairly new to it all (diagnosed August 2015) and I am still learning.

It can be a bit overwhelming but take one day at a time.one little success after each other...and there are loads of top people here.we all pretty much in the same boat.

Hi and welcome to the forum. It is very daunting in the beginning but once you get into it you will settle down and start chasing those lower numbers- lol

Best thing you can do for yourself is to get a test kit. If your practice won't give you one then do like the rest of us and self fund one. Codefree is the cheapest one on strips.
