Hi, I am feeling down again ... Sorry I seem to do this to you rather a lot at the moment. I can't bring myself to do anything. Have done nothing all day except sit at my computer and refresh my emails etc every min or so. I am supposed to be writing up my MSc at the moment but haven't managed a single word since last Thursday and I am supposed to be meeting with my supervisor on Friday and he expects a bit more from me. I know it will help me to do something, I need to get out and do some exercise and I need to get on with my work but how do I do anything when I just want to curl up in a ball in a corner and ignore everything? It is easy for someone (my bf, parents, doctors etc) to tell me to do something but it isn't helping me actually do it. I know it would help if I had someone to talk to around here and someone who I could go for walks with but there isn't anyone. Everyone is too busy with work and my bf, as much as he tries to help, he just worries me more and prefers to sit and watch tv. I do love my bf but sometimes I find that we don't do much together and its sad, not to mention other stuff couples are supposed to enjoy (sorry to much info) Really sorry for the rant, I just needed to get some of it off my chest and talk to someone. I just wish you were here to give me a hug

Here you go.

Hope it all goes well for you.

Were all here to do what we can...........😉

The MSc must be quite stressful, that alone would get too much for the best of us.......

🙂

Big hugs from me too. You sound a little like how I was feeling earlier this year - no incentive/motivation to do anything, not able to get round to doing anything, even at work. Easier to sit in a heap and worry about not doing what you should be.

Get out into the fresh air, go to a local coffee house and sit and watch other folks going about their business, take a book/magazine if you feel self-conscious on your own. Try a trip to the local library - if you have one - and say to your bf that if he wants to give you support, then please switch off the tv (I know, easier said than done, but try)

(((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))0

And a big hug from me too. I think you have taken the important first step and told us about it.

Perhaps when there is nothing your boy friend wants to watch he wouldn't mind taking a walk with you?

I hope you feel better.

Thanks everyone. I know I am in a bit of a mess at the moment, it is very hard to talk to my bf as he blames himself. As for switching off the tv, he is getting better but to be honest he will watch anything 😱

Gail - Thanks xx

Casper - you are right, going to a coffee shop or library is good, sometimes I just go to the green grocers / pharmacy to talk to someone and see what "normal" people do and remember that I am not a failure!

Lots of hugs back to you all xx

I agree with Caroline, at least you told someone how you really feel( even if it is a website forum) some times it's hard to express anything to anyone. Talk to your lovely boyfriend, I'm sure he will be there for you, and you can both have a good heart to heart. Sheena x

Hi Natalie. Sending you virtual hugs and hoping things look a bit brighter really soon. It's hard to be motivated when everything seems grey and too much effort. You've made a big step in talking to us about it. And you are not a failure young lady. You're doing a Msc for goodness sake!

So don't be too hard on yourself. Take the rest of the day off, decide you aren't going to do any work anyway rather than beat yourself up about it, and do something you enjoy. Have a pampering soak in the bath or go for a walk. Start reading a good book. If you can afford it buy something nice that you don't need. Then, tomorrow set a small target of work to do and reward yourself when you've done it. Every journey starts with a small step, but if we only look at how far we have to go we may never take that first small step. Keep in touch and take care. XXXXX

Hi Natalie Big hugs for you. I know exactly how you feel and it's so difficult. When I need to write something - whether it's an OU undergraduate assignment or a journal paper (and anything in between) I set myself the smallest targets which most people would laugh about if they knew but they give me a sense of achievement. Many days when I am meant to be writing I will set myself my self a things to do list on my email which is something like 1) increase word count to 500 words 2) increase word count to 525 words 3) increase word count to 550 words etc etc I then email myself each time I can take something off the list.......it might sound like very small targets but over time it means big goals have been achieved. I try to do the same for non-studying things as well so even on the many days when I feel too down to do anything apart from surf the Internet and sleep I've still got goals to aim for and it has helped me a lot. With regard to boyfriend preferring the tv I know exactly what you mean so unfortunately mine just gets nagged a lot so that we go out and do things. Please keep posting so that we can chat to you. I know that talking on here has helped me on very many difficult days
