Hello,
My names Terry and I have had type 1 since the age of 2 yrs (nearly 59 years T1). Getting a replacement pump soon (Currently using Insight).
Sorry not to able to replace the Insight pump due to it being discontinued.

Hello Terry and welcome to the forum 🙂
I'm a couple of years behind you as diagnosed in 1965 🙂
How long have you been pumping for?

Hi,
Been on pumps for about 15 years. Took a couple of years before my consultant finally agreed to my request. Have always used Accu Chek pumps, currently use Insight.
Considering Medtronic 780g as a replacement.

Welcome to the forum @Terry Smith

Congrats on your many years of successful BG juggling. Did you get a Navarro medal from Diabetes UK for your 50 years? It’s quite an achievement!

We have several members using the MM780G for you to compare notes with including @SB2015 who gets on well with it, and @Pumper_Sue who hasn’t had such a great experience with Medtronic.

I used the MM640G for several years and the Medtronic Veo before that, but switched to the Tandem tSlim most recently.

Do you know if the plan is for you to get sensors along with the pump to use it as a hybrid-closed-loop?

Must admit, I was considering the Medtronic, but after reading reviews, I prefer the tslim. Was on the Insight pump, but they're being discontinued. Received the first medal and hopefully will receive the second in Decenber 2023.

Hi Terry

I am using the Medtronic 780G in a closed loop and at present self funding my sensors in order to do this. I find it usually keeps with a time in range of around 80% with some days in 90%. I do a lot less myself to make this happen and think about my diabetes a lot less than I used to. I certainly wouldn’t want to go back from closed loop now.

My experience has been that each tech addition has gradually improved things for me
Pump (Combo originally) reduced my hypos with the smaller increments deliveries and flexibility using different boluses and a basal pattern that matched what I needed (usually). In addition the Temporary changes I could make to my basal insulin for illness and exercise were great.

Libre was another step up, showing me my post meal spikes and enabling me to time my bo,uses effectively, as well as giving me more confidence when exercising and heading off hypos and hypers.

Sensors with my current pump then offered me closed loop. It took some time to trust it, and it is still not foolproof as I am not a robot, but it is definitely a lot less to think about most days.

I hope that this helps.
