Hi Phil and welcome. Do you know what your blood tests results (HbA1c) were? It will give everyone an idea of where you are and how far you have to go

There are many any other medications, you need to discuss with who ever prescribed for you!

Hi Phil.

I’m assuming the side effects are perhaps gastrointestinal?

Mention the side effects to your GP and all to go into the Modified Release version.

Since you're a new member, perhaps you haven't heard that many can avoid all Type 2 diabetes meds (including the dreaded Metformin) by a Lower Carbohydrate Higher Protein and Higher Fat 'Way Of Eating'.

I suggest you look into whether that would help you.

I was diagnosed just over 4 years ago and prescribed Metformin and Atorvastatin - I lasted about 5 weeks and decided to stop - so far I have been able to control things with diet - well not Cholesterol, apparently, as they like diabetics to be under 5 units with cholesterol. If it at the expense of my mental abilities, no thanks.
I am perhaps unusually sensitive to carbs, and I eat under 40 gm per day, but that is fine by me.
