Now, I have a question on T2, as I have started vaping to avoid smoking, why would some vape liquids make my diabetes spike?

Hi and welcome

What makes you think the vape liquid is causing the problem with your BG spiking and how high is the spike you appear to be getting from it? There are something like 42 different factors which affect BG levels and eliminating all the others in order to be sure it is the vape liquid would be pretty difficult. That said, something which stimulates your body and gives you a bit of a rush will likely raise BG levels, so things like caffeine can have an impact on levels although generally not a significant rise unless you drink several very strong coffees. Is there a stimulant in the vapes which appear to be affecting your levels?

Are you aware of just how much your BG levels can vary throughout the day quite naturally? Carbohydrate rich foods are probably the single most impactful factor in raised BG levels but protein and fat can also cause a rise in BG levels many hours after a meal has been eaten.... and of course the liver will dump glucose into the blood stream in the absence of food if it thinks you need it, even if you really don't, so lots of possible causes.
Not saying it isn't the vape, but just that it might not be. Do you have an idea of what is in the vape which looks to be affecting you?

Welcome to the forum @GlennK

We have a few vapers on the forum, but I’m not aware that they see BG spikes from the fluids they use.

Do you have any pearls of wisdom @mikeyB @Kaylz @Eddy Edson ?

Hi there, I've never had an eliquid that has spiked me and before I started mixing my own I vaped a bottle of liquid that was well known to contain a lot of sweetener, I wear (and wore then) a Libre so continuous 24 hour monitoring and never experienced any spikes, I vape a wide range of flavours too from fruits to desserts, sweeteners used in most liquids are either sucralose or ethyl maltol or a 50/50 mix of the 2 and some don't contain any, I've been vaping for almost 3 years now xx

I vape and have no problems with my BG. I have an app running which I've just checked and in the 2 years 279 days I've been vaping I've saved over £18k!
