Oh dear, you’re describing how so many of us feel I’m sure. But don’t ever think that: life is precious and help is out there. I’d urge you to go to your doctor, firstly, to explain just how low you’re feeling and also write down a list of each area of your diabetes management you struggle with to get some help. If you are seriously feeling that down see if you can get in immediately or call the Samaritans now. Best of luck and chin up

I can only second what Sally has said, please contact your doctor, go to A&E, ring the Samaritans. Please come back and let us know that you have sought help. Worried about you.

Sounds like you have a lot going on at the moment Simon and its understandable that you feel overwhelmed. As Sally has mentioned, many people here know how you are feeling right now. Diabetes can be difficult. If you want to talk to someone anonymously, as Grannylorraine has mentioned, the Samaritans are always available to talk, so do know that you can call them at any hour (116 123). Also, our Helpline is here to talk with you through your feelings and diabetes management. They understand the emotional strain that diabetes can have and will be happy to talk. https://www.diabetes.org.uk/How_we_help/Helpline/
If you haven't already, do get in touch with your DSN or GP. You can start with a simple conversation about how you feel. They will want to help you and will work with you to find approaches that can help.

Yikes Simon, I bet you've got the entire forum's ears pricked up now. I hope you're doing okay and hanging in there? You might not feel it just now, but you've got everyone here rooting for you.

Undoubtedly when life gets hard, so does being diabetic. And it sucks. This is my go-to place when I need a bit of encouragement and support, and I really do feel like it makes a difference, I hope it does the same for you.

Sounds like you need to wipe the slate clean and start afresh somehow. I dare you to start telling yourself you CAN do this... The truth is that we all can, it just creeps up and gets the better of us sometimes. Once we get our head straight, we know what we need to do. Best of British to you mate! Please stick around x

relieved to see this post. We are all here for you especially when the going gets tough.

Good! Think about it Simon - your body is telling you it's behaving as it should in most ways. Why do you feel grot when you are high or low? - because your brain knows it ain't right and protests. Why did you feel like that in the middle of the night? - because the human body is at it's lowest ebb at that time of night.

There are clearly still a million things RIGHT with your body!

Good to hear you're talking to someone Simon. You can always have a good rant on here to us! Take care x

Good to hear you've had a day off to take a step back from the overwhelming juggling life throws at us Simon. Diabetes management is a juggle enough some days without the rest. I hope you've managed to clear a bit of room in your head and feel a little less under siege. Take care of yourself .

Well done for giving yourself time to sort things out.
As others have said there is help available, and I am pleased to hear that you are talking to people.

One strategy that I found very helpful for me when I became depressed about my Diabetes was to write down the things that were getting me down with it all. I then crossed out any of these that were out of my control, and that just left me the things that I could do something about. I then realised that for a lot of things There was nothing I could do, and I then had a list of things that I could do something about. I then focused on just one of the things on the list at a time, with a lot of help from other people.

Hey mate, thinking of you. 3am snap there, it does seem to be the witching hour. Being one of them insomniacs every night time hour is 3am, I lay awake and think to myself what can I do tomorrow that will have a positive result in my daily routine? In the morning I am on my way to the hospital to have minor skin surgery, so I make a decision to enjoy the journey and when its all done and dusted good result another problem dealt with. If I was you I would concentrate on my scooter and get them mirrors all over the front of it, obviously you have to keep control of your condition which isn't easy but doable that is why you belong to this forum. You can gather by the response of your thread that all members are concerned and will do anything to help you in the way you are feeling. You are a strong minded man, I say that because I/we have followed your input to the forum and appreciate everything you give to us as your own personnel knowledge or opinion. If 3am comes around and you are available jump on the key board one of us will be around, it may be a different country OZ comes to mind but what an opportunity to converse with like minded people who know how you feel. Take care Simon we all love you.

Only just say your post Simon, but echo and like all replies. You are a lovely person, and please look for support.. take care.carol

Another strategy I try to follow that sounds and is a simple idea (I like those ones),
but I know that it is not easy to do

Keep your head up when walking around.
I find if I am fed up I tend to walk around with shoulders hunched, head down, with a view of feet and pavements. When I look up my posture improves, I see things to take my mind off what I am finding difficult to deal with. I have a much better knowledge of the first floor of our local area!

Sounds easy, is physically easy to do, but I sometimes have to remind myself regularly whilst I am walking along that that is what I am doing.
